    This is a 1GB model firmware? My 2+16GB won’t boot/load this firmware from the SD card. And the Batch Tool does not detect my Z28.

    This is meant to be flashed with RK batchtool, also make sure to install driver. Simply hold reset button (hole under Z28) and plug usb male to male cable into the usb 2.0 port on the box.

    This new Z28 7.1.2 firmware is also suitable for Alfawise Z28 Pro 2/16 Go ?
    Is this new firmware correcting the 720p interface mode lock ?

    Stephane,

    Z28 pro has a different wireless card so I don’t recommend you flash this firmware. The 720p lock is still present on this firmware.

    The Z28 acts/installed as a “portable device” if “usb connected to computer” option is selected in developer mode/options. But Batch Tool would not recognize it. Batch Tool will recognize the Z28 if the Z28 was initially powered up with the reset button depressed while plugging a USB cord from the OTG port to the computer. No need to plug in the Z28’s power cord since the usb is providing power to the box.

    Something did changed after the flash but my z28 is still on 7.1.1 according to “about”. And the “4K”intro screen repeats 3x on boot now. Is it too much to ask for >720p Youtube and online browsing?

    To stream >720p from Youtube, enter the URL/youtube.com in Chrome which will then enter “desktop” mode with higher resolution options if available. The images do looked sharper but with a lot of down sampling/decoding artifacts.

    I am able to set 1080 browsing and Youtube (available option) through ADB for my 2+16GB Z28. The swipe selection windows are a lot smaller and don’t have images. But texts are clearer and smaller as expected.

    According to AIDA64, my Z28 (7.1.1) is a rooted device.

    Apparently, setting the resolution and dpi/”density” ( my 23″ 1080 is set at 200, default is 720 at 160 ) don’t require root access.

    I think the Z28 doesn’t have DRM on/enabled. It would be an issue with commercial venders.

    The comments seem mixed on whether this ROM will work for my 2GB/16GB version of the Z28. Is anyone able to confirm for certain whether this ROM/Firmware is suitable for the 2GB version please?

    Also, does it upgrade to 7.1.2? Again, views on this seem mixed.

    Hello,

    Can you change the build tags to “release-keys” instead of “test-keys”?
    There are a lot of apps that are blocked for testing builds.
