ASUS ESR3-515-X3 Open Edge Server Announced
ASUS announced the introduction of ESR3-515-X3 open edge server, a new-generation open edge server that is compliant with OCP openEDGE, a sub-project under the direction of the OCP Telco Project.
As the growth in the use of open technologies continues to accelerate, ASUS is committed to help modern data centers to rapidly grow their infrastructure with scalable configuration and design. Our vision is to allow ASUS servers to meet the market’s evolving needs and expectations in an open-collaboration mindset.
High-performance computing power at the edge
ASUS ESR3-515-X3 supports up to five sleds in an open edge chassis. The main enhancement of the sled is the introduction of support for 3rd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors and EDSFF E1.S with forward-looking SSD technology. The new CPU generation and several other improvements such as the support of OCP 3.0 NIC and PCI Express® 4.0 x16 slots for GPU, FPGA and FEC accelerators to bring significant benefits in running various real-time applications at the edge. Improved system cooling enables simultaneous use of higher-TDP CPUs and various accelerators.
The open edge chassis design features multiple sled configurations to meet a wide variety of telco workloads, and is perfectly suited for 5G RAN and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) applications. Its compact, short-depth design (440 x 430 x 130.5 mm) and accessible front-panel design, including the power supply, makes it easy to install in network-edge environment.
