Elephone U & U Pro, Elephone is back with curved display smartphone
Elephone is back with its brand new models Elephone U and U Pro which are rebranded from Elephone S9 and S9 Pro. It’s said that Elephone decided to change the name in order to differentiate from Samsung’s Galaxy S-series of smartphones. So, what features do these two newly-released handsets come with? Let’s take a look at it.
Design & Display
The Elephone U and U Pro are the same in appearance but have a bit difference in hand feeling. They inherit the shiny lumia back from Elephone S8 in combination with the 3D glass back cover. The aluminum frame and its anod-ceramic technology makes the frame brilliant, beautiful and rock-solid at the same time. The dual rear cameras are placed at the upper middle of the back cover with dual LED flash next to it. The fingerprint scanner is placed below the rear camera. Moreover, the Elephone logo on the back cover also works as an additional notification light. It will light up when you receive a call or when the phone is being charged.
The front panel of the Elephone U and U Pro is occupied by a 5.99 inch FHD + 18:9 curved AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The display has almost no borders on both sides but leaves a narrow frame in both top and bottom edges. Covered with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 glass, it’s solid for protection against drops and scratches. Moreover, thanks to the curved AMOLED display, the U and U Pro will offer you more innovative experience when using. For example, when you have phone call coming in, both sides of the display will light up with dynamic modern light that is so cool. Besides, it allows to setup the side navigation menu which is very convenient for users.
Hardware & OS
Though having the same appearance, the Elephone U and U Pro are different inside the body. As the name implied, the Pro is an upgrade version. The Elephone U is powered by the MediaTek Helio P23 64-bit octa-core SoC, while the U Pro will ship with the Snapdragon 660 64-bit octa-core processor. In terms of RAM and storage, the Elephone U and U Pro both have two versions: 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM and 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM. Besides, both of them support up to 128GB expandable storage via using MicroSD card to the TF card slot on the top edge of the handsets. As for operating system, the Elephone U Pro is running newest Android 8.0 out of box while the Elephone U is still running on the Android 7.1.
Camera
As mentioned above, both Elephone U and U Pro are equipped with a front camera and dual rear cameras. The dual rear cameras are both 13MP. With Arcsoft image algorithm, they can give you the professional bokeh effect. The front camera is 8MP which allows you to take nice selfie.
Battery
The Elephone U Pro boasts to have a 3550mAh battery while the Elephone U comes with a 3620mAh battery. With the lower power consumption and higher performance SoC, this battery setup can meet most of the daily use. In terms of charging, both U and U Pro support quick charge. Besides, the U Pro also supports wireless charging with the specific wireless charging base.
Conclusion
Elephone is gaining a solid reputation for its cheap yet cheerful smartphones. The Elephone U and U Pro with the curved AMOLED display might be a good beginning in 2018 and leading the smartphone market.
