First sample photos shot by UMIDIGI S2 Lite revealed
UMIDIGI used to apply Samsung and Sony cameras, while going through hundreds of tests before UMIDIGI S2 Lite launching, we decided to pick Omnivision OV16880 for its excellent performance. So let’s discover how will it surprise us.
A 16MP main camera
The UMIDIGI S2 Lite comes with a 16MP camera that features phase detection autofocus, f/2.0 lens. On the front is a 5MP selfie cam with f/2.0 lens. UMIDIGI S2 Lite used Omnivision’s OV16880 1/3.06″ sensor for the main camera with 1.00 µm pixel size. OmniVision’s PureCel®Plus-S sensors utilize buried color filter array (BCFA) and deep trench isolation (DTI) technology, which dramatically reduces pixel crosstalk and improves signal-to-noise ratio to produce superior images and video. Additionally, this technology enables a slimmer module design by allowing larger chief ray angle (CRA) lenses without degradation of image quality. The OV16880 PureCel®Plus-S image sensor is capable of capturing 16-megapixel (4672 x 3504 pixels) images at 30 frames per second (fps), thus allowing burst photography and zero shutter lag at full resolution.
Still image quality
UMIDIGI S2 lite resolves enough detail and the white balance is mostly accurate. The colors are accurate and lively. There are no visible defects such as over-sharpening or fringing. The HDR mode rescues both the highlights and shadows without making even a flat mess out of the image. But you’ll rarely need the HDR because of the above-average dynamic range. The noise levels are lower than before, especially in bright sunlight, which is a well done. Overall, the processing is mature and UMIDIGI has put big efforts to utilize the Omnivision sensor to its maximum and in the end most of the pictures turned out quite nice.
Video camera
The video quality is very good – the resolved detail is more than enough. The dynamic range is as high as on the still pictures. The frame rate is smooth and steady, while the colors are accurate. You also can use UMIDIGI S2 Lite as a video camera.
Shot samples
UMIDIGI also releases some photos shot by UMIDIGI S2 Lite. One great feature of Omnivision sensor is that photos will be more clear in good radial condition. The 16MP+5MP dual cameras’ sensor is from Omnivision, so there are more expectation for camera performance on UMIDIGI S2 Lite. This time the dual camera on UMIDIGI S2 Lite will not let you down.
You can now buy UMIDIGI S2 Lite for only $149.99 with free shipping from Gearbest.com.
