Honor Play 8A launched, powered by MediaTek Helio P35
The Honor Play 8A is a 6.09-inch device with HD+ (720 x 1560) display that features a small and central, teardrop notch.
Inside, the recently released MediaTek Helio P35 provides a huge performance pool for fun an games between its 2.3GHz octa-core and 680MHz PowerVR GE8320 graphics. This is paired to 3GB of memory and 32-64GB of storage that’s expandable by microSD card. It ships with Honor’s EMUI 9 software, which is built on the latest Android 9 Pie.
As you’d expect, there’s fast 4G connectivity, 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5) and Bluetooth. A 13MP camera is nestled at the top corner of its colorful rear cover that’s available in blue, black, gold or red color choices, while for selfies there’s an 8MP camera at the front. The P35 provides key camera technologies such as Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC), multi-frame noise reduction (MFNR), Instant Auto Exposure (AE) and Camera Control Unit (CCU). These are all hardware-baked enhancements designed to enhance photography and video capture. Eschewing the fingerprint sensor, the Honor Play 8A uses the P35’s light AI-enhancements and NeuroPilot to provide secure Face ID (Face Unlock).
The P35’s incredible power efficiency optimizations, such as CorePilot, and ultra-low power 12nm chip production, mean it sips at the 3,020mAh battery and provides excellent battery life. When you do need to charge, a 10W fast charger boosts things quickly.
The Honor Play 8A is available in China now, with other regions such as India following soon.
