Huawei FreeBuds 3 wireless earbuds released with Kirin A1 & Bluetooth 5.1
Huawei has launched the world’s first 5G-integrated chipset, the HiSilicon Kirin 990 SoC at IFA 2019 in Berlin. Meanwhile, they launched the world’s first Bluetooth 5.1 and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.1 Wearable chip, Kirin A1. The size of chip is smaller than the recently released Kirin 990 and also from Apple’s H1 chip.
The first products to come with this chip are the Huawei FreeBuds 3 and Watch GT 2. But if the former is already announced, the latter will hit the market a bit later.
HUAWEI KIRIN A1, THE WORLD’S FIRST BLUETOOTH 5.1 WEARABLE CHIP
According to Huawei, the Kirin A1 chip has Isochronous Dual Channel Bluetooth data transmission technology with lower latency and lower power consumption architecture compared to other chips in the market, which helps it to deliver the best performance.
Kirin A1 has high-efficiency, stable connection, and excellent anti-interference performance. As it can also deliver the fastest Bluetooth transmission speed up to 6.5Mbps on real-time. The chip can output Bluetooth Ultra High-Definition Audio (BT-UHD) at up to 2.3 Mbps for top-quality sound. Huawei announced that the Kirin A1 chip can be used for Wireless headsets, Headband, Neckband, Smart Speakers, Smart Eyewears and Smart Watches.
HUAWEI FREEBUDS 3
The Huawei FreeBuds 3 is visually identical to the Apple Airpods, and the similarities are very obvious in the design of the earbuds, though the charging case sees some variance. The earbuds individually weigh just 4.5g each, while the charging case weighs 48g on its own.
The FreeBuds 3 employ HiSilicon’s Kirin A1 Bluetooth chipset that lets it enjoy dual-mode Bluetooth 5.1 and BLE 5.1 connectivity support, as well as allowing the FreeBuds 3 pair to deliver true stereo sound simultaneously yet independently with a claimed latency as low as 190ms. The earbuds come with a high-sensitivity 14mm dynamic driver.
The standout feature on these earbuds is the fact that they come with active noise cancellation( ANC). ANC Combined with class-leading audio processor delivers precise environment noise reduction that optimizes in real-time, capturing and canceling background noise as it changes. ANC can also be controlled by double-tapping the left earbud. No matter in the crowded metro or a noisy restaurant, you can still enjoy crystal clear music. Thanks to the A1 intelligent chipset, HUAWEI FreeBuds 3 also can eliminate the background noise during calls and enhance your voice simultaneously. Calls sound like face-to-face conversations.
For charging, the Huawei FreeBuds 3 relies on its rounded charging case to provide up to 20 hours of battery life with its 410mAh battery, and 4 hours of music playback by themselves through their individual 30mAh battery. You can charge the case with a USB Type-C cable, or wirelessly through a wireless charger or a phone with reverse wireless charging. The earbuds and case come in Ceramic White and Carbon Black color variants. Pricing and market availability have not been announced, but we reckon these will see marketing centered around the Huawei Mate 30 series.
