Huawei Honor Smart TV Specs: 55 inch diagonal, 8K and retractable camera
At first everybody was waiting for Huawei and Honor to have their own TVs, and then it became clear that they wouldn’t be there. Instead of TV, Chinese companies offered something more called Smart Screen: a smart screen that combines a lot of features and acts as a kind of center of a digital smart home. That’s about how Honor Smart Screen is presented.
It is Honor Wisdom Screen – at least that’s how the device name is translated from Chinese. Zhao Ming, president of Honor Zhao Ming, introduced the novelty in China, and he mostly talked about the hardware platform of the novelty.
Honor Smart Screen is built on the single-chip HiSilicon Hongjun 818 platform. HiSilicon releases single-chip platforms for many years. Back in 2014, the first SoC with support for 4K hardware video decoding debuted, and Honghu 818 provides hardware decoding of 8K video at 30 frames per second and 4K video at 120 frames per second. It also supports multitasking (due to this promised almost unprecedented for TV responsiveness of the graphical interface) and a lot of branded technology: MEMC (system of dynamic change of image quality on the screen), HDR, NR (system of noise reduction), DCI, ACM (system of automatic color management). And that’s not all. Sound is also given due attention: the Huawei Histen is designed to improve the acoustic picture.
SoC provides a neural processor to speed up artificial intelligence tasks. For example, the recognition of user faces and voice commands in the address of a smart assistant. Face recognition is performed with the help of a camera. It is specially made retractable.
Huawei Honor Smart Screen Pro will go on sale at the beginning of August. The cost is not yet reported, but the novelty should cost no more than the usual competitors – Xiaomi, HiSense, TCL. There is no data on whether Honor Smart Screen Pro will be sold outside China.
