LEAGOO Company Official Announcement

We, Shenzhen LEAGOO Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd., hereby clarify the recent “virus alert” issues on some LEAGOO phones and denounce the false reports released by certain news media.

Official Announcement

Regarding the false reports released by certain news media recently, we make the following announcement:

In July 2017, a foreign anti-virus software company claimed that some of our entry-level phones were infected with the so-called “virus”, which were detected by this company’s antivirus software. LEAGOO contacted this company immediately and found that it was a false virus alert caused by some APK codes intended for advertisements. Soon after that, LEAGOO software team updated LEAGOO OS and solved virus alert issues in an urgent manner. So far, we did not receive any complaint or critics regarding personal or bank info leakages due to the so called “virus alert”.

In early March of 2018, some media quoted the above-mentioned anti-virus software company’s data without verification and completely ignored the fact that LEAGOO had already solved the issue of “virus alert”. Instead, these media reported that the LEAGOO mobile phones were “virus infected”, and released a list of LEAGOO “virus” phones. What is even more outrageous is that the “virus alert” from the original data was exaggerated into “bank virus software”, which led to extremely bad influence on LEAGOO reputation. For such false reports, legal actions will be taken by LEAGOO against relevant media and publishers.

In conclusion, the “virus alert” issues on LEAGOO phones are primarily caused by different virus detection mechanism and algorithm between Chinese and foreign anti-virus software. Before shipment, all LEAGOO phones are strictly scanned and tested for virus in our lab by using top Chinese anti-virus software to make sure each LEAGOO phone is virus-free. In the future, we will also integrate the foreign algorithm into our virus testing process and completely put an end to the “virus alert” issues. For LEAGOO users whose phones are detected with “virus”, please update your LEAGOO OS to the latest version and stay tuned for the future updates. Users can also visit your purchase store or local LEAGOO service center for inquiry and phone update.
