She is widely known for her ground-breaking research-based TV work but is latterly known for her philanthropic work for the Sun Culture Foundation whose remit is to focus on improving education and promoting philanthropy.

Ms. Yang obtained her bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from the Beijing Foreign Studies University, China in 1990 and her master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University in 1996. She has also been a creator, executive producer and anchor of the talk show series ‘Yan Lan One on One’ for Phoenix Television. Outside of TV she is a Global Ambassador and International Board Member for the Special Olympics Movement, a member of Lincoln Center President’s Council and the vice-president and standing board member of China Charity Alliance. Previously she served as the presenter for Beijing’s bid for the 2008 Olympic Games and 2022 Winter Games and the Goodwill Ambassador for the 2010 Shanghai Expo. In 2013 Ms. Yang was ranked among The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women by Forbes.
