Moondrop Moonriver 3 Flagship Portable DAC/AMP
Moondrop, a name familiar to every audiophile, is back again with a brand-new launch. Introducing the all-new Moonriver 3, the third generation of Moondrop’s high-end, award-winning portable DAC/AMP series. It comes as a successor to the Moonriver 2 and its Titanium model. The Moonriver 3 introduces a completely new design that blends flagship-level HiFi audio circuitry with a versatile 2nd-generation DSP functionality. While the Dual CS43198 DAC section, combined with dual independent amplifiers, handles the HiFi audio section, the expansive PEQ functionality offers unlimited tuning customization on the Moonriver 3. Let’s take your portable audio listening experience to a completely new level with the all-new Moondrop Moonriver 3.
The Moonriver 3 is housed in a precision-milled stainless steel unibody chassis, offering a rugged yet premium feel. True to Moondrop’s artistic roots, the device features a semi-transparent back panel with a signature “Yuki” cutout pattern, allowing enthusiasts to glimpse the sophisticated circuitry within. It’s simply crafted for users who value aesthetics as much as acoustics. One of the key features of Moonriver 3 is its independent volume knob that has 100-step, precise volume adjustment on the go.
Under the hood, the Moonriver 3 is a technical powerhouse. It features a dual CS43198 Flagship DAC configuration paired with dual independent amplifier chips. This architecture enables an astonishing output of 4Vrms/500mW, providing a strong output thrust to drive demanding full-sized headphones while maintaining an ultra-low noise floor for sensitive IEMs. With its HiFi audio circuitry, the Moonriver 3 achieves a class-leading dynamic range of 131dB. We also have solid SNR and THD+N performance on the DAC/AMP. The Moonriver 3 houses dual headphone output ports featuring a 3.5mm single-ended and a 4.4mm balanced option.
Moondrop Moonriver 3 has 2nd-generation interactive online DSP support. It allows users to share and download different PEQ tuning options via the Moondrop application. Moondrop has a large database of community-driven frequency response database, users can download and experience different tunings shared by other users worldwide. The DAC/AMP has a physical button to activate the DSP tuning with a single button input. One of the most significant upgrades is the independent power input. By using the included ddHiFi-customized PD cable, users can power the Moonriver 3’s amp circuit while simultaneously fast-charging their smartphone or tablet, or any other connected device. The Moonriver 3 supports up to 60W PD charging (depending upon the source device).
