OUKITEL is giving the rugged smartphone category an unusual spark with the upcoming WP63, a device that combines a built-in outdoor igniter with a substantial 20,000mAh battery, reverse charging, and dedicated camping illumination. Marketed by the company as the world’s first rugged phone with an igniter, the WP63 brings an interesting idea to outdoor technology: making the smartphone useful for more of the practical tasks that arise beyond the nearest power socket. What catches my attention is how these features fit together. A large battery provides the foundation, while the integrated charging cable, camping light, and igniter extend the phone’s role into portable power and campsite utility. For outdoor enthusiasts and people working away from convenient charging facilities, that combination has a clear practical appeal.

The outdoor igniter is undoubtedly the headline feature. OUKITEL positions it as a tool for camping, fieldwork, and emergency situations, including starting a fire for cooking or warmth where conditions permit. Integrating this function into a smartphone is an unconventional move, and its everyday usefulness will depend on accessibility, operation, and performance outdoors. Nevertheless, it gives the WP63 a distinctive identity in a category where large batteries and reinforced housings have become familiar selling points.

The 20,000mAh battery could ultimately be the feature owners appreciate most often. Navigation, photography, mobile communication, and extended periods away from a charger all place demands on a phone, making additional battery capacity particularly relevant here. Actual endurance will depend on usage and conditions, but the WP63’s capacity establishes a strong starting point. Support for 33W charging replenishes the phone itself, although charging a battery this large will still require planning.

OUKITEL also makes that stored energy available to other devices through 18W reverse charging and a built-in USB Type-C cable. The integrated cable is specifically intended for charging external equipment, giving the WP63 a convenient secondary role as a portable power bank. I like this detail because it turns battery capacity into a shared resource, whether that means topping up another phone or powering a compatible accessory during a trip.

The outdoor focus continues with a camping light offering High, Medium, and Low brightness settings, alongside SOS and Strobe modes. Adjustable illumination should be useful for different campsite tasks, while the 3W loudspeaker is designed to improve audibility in noisy surroundings. OUKITEL also lists IP68/IP69K protection and MIL-STD-810H credentials, supporting the device’s positioning for demanding environments.

On the smartphone side, the official product page lists 5G connectivity, a Unisoc T8200 chipset, Android 16, and a 6.67-inch 120Hz display. Photography hardware includes a 64MP main camera, an 8MP night-vision camera, and a 20MP front camera. These specifications broaden the WP63’s appeal beyond its outdoor tools, although image quality and overall responsiveness remain matters for hands-on testing.

For me, the WP63’s appeal lies in the way its features address related needs: staying connected, carrying reserve power, lighting a workspace, and adding a practical outdoor tool. The igniter earns attention, but the broader combination gives this upcoming rugged phone its substance. It is a distinctive approach from OUKITEL, and one that should make the WP63 an interesting device to explore when it arrives.
