POCO F9 Series Is Coming – Raising the Flagship Standard

POCO is preparing to introduce its most ambitious smartphone generation yet. The new POCO F9 Series will make its global debut on September 1, 2026, under the “UltraPower Unbound” banner, promising a compelling combination of flagship processing, extreme gaming performance, long battery life, premium multimedia features and more distinctive industrial design. The upcoming family will include the POCO F9 Pro and POCO F9 Ultra, with the latter representing an important expansion of the brand’s flagship portfolio. While POCO has traditionally built its reputation by delivering outstanding performance at highly competitive prices, the F9 Series appears ready to take that philosophy into more premium territory.

A New Generation of POCO Flagships
POCO describes the F9 Series as an “all-round performance flagship,” indicating that raw processing power will be only one part of the experience. The company is also placing considerable emphasis on battery endurance, charging, display technology, audio quality and design. At the center of the new lineup is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 family. The POCO F9 Ultra will use the full Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, while the POCO F9 Pro will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series variant, identified as SM8850-1-AB. According to testing conducted by POCO Internal Labs, the F9 Ultra achieved an AnTuTu score of 4,165,108 using AnTuTu Benchmark V11.1.1. Laboratory results do not always translate directly into everyday performance, but this figure provides a strong indication of the considerable processing and graphics capabilities POCO is targeting. Such hardware should make the F9 Series particularly attractive to demanding mobile gamers, content creators and power users who regularly run resource-intensive applications or switch between multiple tasks.

A 185Hz AMOLED Display Built for Speed
Display performance will be another major highlight. POCO has confirmed an ultra-bright AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 185Hz, pushing the new series beyond the 120Hz and 144Hz panels commonly found on many current flagship smartphones. The company is also promoting an ultra-high 185FPS gaming experience in supported titles. Actual performance will naturally depend on the game, graphics settings, software version, temperature and network conditions, but the combination of a 185Hz panel and flagship Snapdragon hardware suggests an exceptionally fluid experience. Outside gaming, the high refresh rate should make animations, scrolling and general interface navigation feel remarkably responsive. The AMOLED technology should also deliver the deep blacks, strong contrast and vivid colors expected from a premium smartphone display.

Massive Battery and Fast HyperCharge Technology
The POCO F9 Ultra will feature a massive 8,050mAh typical-capacity battery, an unusually large unit for a mainstream flagship smartphone. This could become one of the device’s most important advantages, especially for users who spend long periods gaming, streaming video, navigating or creating content away from a charger. A battery of this size could potentially provide considerably more endurance than conventional premium smartphones while reducing the need for charging during the day. When charging is required, the F9 Series will support 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless HyperCharge. This pairing is particularly noteworthy because high-capacity smartphones do not always offer equally capable wireless charging. Adapter availability may differ between markets, while a compatible wireless charger will be sold separately.

Sound by Bose and a Dedicated Subwoofer
POCO is also making a serious move in mobile audio through a collaboration with Bose. The F9 Series will feature Sound by Bose, while the flagship F9 Ultra will combine symmetrical stereo speakers with an independent subwoofer. The addition of a dedicated subwoofer is especially interesting. Smartphone audio systems are often limited by their compact internal space, particularly when reproducing low frequencies. A specialized bass driver could give movies, music and games a fuller, more dynamic character than conventional stereo speakers. POCO notes that the term “symmetrical” refers to the internal speaker components rather than the physical appearance of the phone. The independent subwoofer, like the 8,050mAh battery, will be exclusive to the F9 Ultra.

POCO F9 Ultra Introduces a Premium Dark Cherry Finish
The F9 Ultra will be available in an eye-catching Dark Cherry finish. Its deep red tone is combined with a textured glass-fiber surface, refined rounded corners and a matte appearance designed to feel both premium and durable. The rear camera area is visually distinctive, using large circular elements arranged within a substantial rectangular section. One of these elements houses the dedicated audio component, giving the phone an immediately recognizable identity while visually reinforcing its multimedia focus. This design suggests that POCO is moving beyond the aggressively performance-oriented aesthetic often associated with gaming devices. The F9 Ultra still looks powerful, but its cleaner surfaces, restrained branding and sophisticated finish give it a more mature flagship presence.

POCO F9 Pro Brings Light Into the Design
The POCO F9 Pro will introduce an Aurora Green finish with a full-panel luminous rear design. After exposure to sunlight or indoor lighting, the rear cover can produce a soft and even glow in darker environments. Rather than relying on powered LEDs, the design appears to use light-reactive materials that absorb and subsequently emit light. The intensity and duration of the effect will vary according to the activating light source and surrounding conditions. The luminous surface is exclusive to the Aurora Green version of the F9 Pro and applies to the back cover rather than the camera decoration. It is an unusual visual feature that gives the device its own personality without adding another component that consumes battery power.

More Than Another Performance-Focused Smartphone
The early specifications suggest that the POCO F9 Series is designed to compete on several levels simultaneously. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 family processors provide the performance foundation, while the 185Hz AMOLED display targets serious mobile gaming. Fast wired and wireless charging address convenience, and the F9 Ultra’s enormous battery is designed for extended use. At the same time, Sound by Bose, symmetrical speakers and the F9 Ultra’s independent subwoofer indicate that entertainment will be central to the experience. The distinctive Dark Cherry and Aurora Green finishes also show that POCO wants its new devices to be recognizable for more than benchmark results. Pricing, camera specifications, memory configurations and regional availability have yet to be fully detailed. These elements will ultimately determine how effectively the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra can challenge established premium smartphones.

The Global Launch Is Almost Here
The POCO F9 Series will be officially unveiled during a global launch event on September 1, 2026, at 20:00 GMT+8. The presentation should reveal the complete specifications, camera systems, configurations, international availability and launch pricing for both models. Based on the first official information, POCO is no longer content with simply offering flagship-level speed at a lower price. With the F9 Series, the company is preparing a more complete premium proposition—one that combines exceptional performance with extreme endurance, advanced charging, ultra-fluid visuals, ambitious audio and distinctive design. The POCO F9 Pro and POCO F9 Ultra are nearly here, and “UltraPower Unbound” may prove to be more than a launch slogan. The new generation has all the ingredients required to raise POCO’s flagship standard and become one of the most interesting smartphone announcements of 2026.
