Quelima SQ13 Mini Car DVR Action Camera, the Smallest Action Cam of 2018

You may be well familiar with the Chinese brand Quelima from its already famous SQ series — a line of super compact action cameras promising to be “the smallest action cameras in the world. The Quelima SQ13 Mini is the company’s latest (released in May this year) and the most improved model. Let’s go in for a closer look.

Design
The mini camera, true to its name, measures just 1.18 x 1.1 x 0.98 inches and weighs only 24 grams. On the front panel, you will see a 2.33mm lens and 8 infrared LEDs with the range of up to meters (according to the manufacturer). On the top panel there are two control buttons: Power and Mode. Plus, there are LED indicators for On/OFF, Wi-Fi connection and night vision. On the left, there is an SD card slot; on the right a USB port. You can get the mini cam in red, black and silver and the package will include the cam itself, a USB cable, a camera mount and a user manual.

Features
– 1080P videos
– 2K photos
– 155 degree wide angle view
– Water resistant
– 32GB memory
– Dedicated app
– 300mAh battery

As you already know from the name, the SQ13 is not just an action cam but also a DVR. This means that you can have it attached to your car windshield for safe driving and make sure you always have non-refutable evidence in case of an accident. You can also use it as an action cam making full use of the camera’s super compact size.

Despite the camera’s small frame, it is capable of 1080P full HD videos at 30 frames per second and 2K photos. You will also be able to shoot quality footage in the dark thanks to the cam’s night vision function enabling it to shed light for up to 5 meters. Sporting a 155-degree wide angle, the cam can get more of the background into the frame — a feature that is especially useful when you use the camera as a DVR as it will let you capture more of the road.

Your videos will be recorded directly onto the 32GB memory card. Thanks to loop recording (old videos will be automatically replaced with new ones), the space will be used efficiently and the H.264 compression will make sure that hefty videos are compressed without compromising with the quality. The SQ13 comes with a 300mAh battery and offers up to 90 minutes of non-stop recording. You can easily charge up the cam via the dedicated USB cable — and you will need only 2-3 hours for a full charge.

What earns the cam its “action” status is water resistance. (Note: the water-resistant case is optional, not included.) You can use the cam in any weather conditions and make cool footage even in the rain. Thanks to a handy mount, the cam can comfortably and securely sit on your bike or motorcycle. Recording videos and taking photos has also been made easier with the camera’s app that can function as a remote trigger — this makes the cam perfect for selfies a well as making recordings single-handedly.

Price and wrap up
Here’s where things get really good. If you hurry up, you can snatch the bestselling cam on GearBest at a 30% discount for just $20.99 — which is a real bargain for “the world’s smallest action cam”.

How can the SQ13 be used as a dashcam if the camera does not start recording when it receives USB power? It is utterly useless as a dash camera, as it must be physically powered-up and set to record BY HAND each time.
