Razer Phone taps Snapdragon 835 for best gaming experiences
Razer Phone taps Snapdragon 835 for unparalleled mobile gaming experiences.
Razer is renowned for its breakthrough products for gamers. So, when the company decided to make a smartphone, it was a foregone conclusion that it would need to deliver bleeding-edge multimedia experiences (particularly gaming) for its die-hard fans. To push the boundaries of what a phone can do, the company tapped Qualcomm Technologies’ expertise.
The new Razer Phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, which lies at the heart of many of this year’s flagship Android devices. Using the Snapdragon 835 as a foundation, Razer has created a device with unparalleled entertainment capabilities.
UltraMotion builds on a 120 Hz refresh-rate display and Qualcomm Q-Sync, a display technology that supports the mobile industry’s first commercially available adaptive display refresh rate solution that synchronizes frame rates between the display and the Qualcomm Adreno GPU sans any jankiness. The new Razer Phone, the first smartphone equipped with Q-Sync can render smooth content to the display at virtually all times at double the refresh rates compared to most of today’s marquee mobile devices, which max out at 60 Hz.
UltraMotion and Q-sync technology are designed to deliver PC-quality gaming to the mobile form factor — all with virtually zero lag or stuttering. While most of Razer’s devotees will be taken by the Razer Phone’s silky smooth gaming and immersive content, the 120 Hz display and Q-sync technology is also uniquely situated to deliver the film/video content from the platforms and creators pushing traditional FPS boundaries.
The Razer Phone’s premier video performance isn’t constrained to frame rates either; the handset boasts a Quad HD display with a wide color gamut, for vibrant and sharp images and supports 4K Ultra HD Premium video playback at 60 fps, designed to deliver true to life cinematic video quality. When it comes to audio, the phone features a pair of front-facing stereo speakers powered by Dolby Atmos to deliver true-to-life cinematic audio. When plugging-in with headphones, users are treated to a THX-certified DAC to deliver a top-shelf audio experience. Underneath the hood, the Razer Phone boasts 8 GB of RAM to keep the content smooth and clear.
Gaming and graphics are at the heart of the Razer smartphone, and while the display and video technologies that Qualcomm Technologies has enabled help shatter visual expectations, the Adreno 540 visual processing subsystem will satisfy gaming enthusiasts with smooth and fast graphics rendering, as well as support for the latest APIs including Vulkan and the latest versions of OpenGL and OpenCL.
Running all that forward-leaning hardware might be a death sentence for most mobile batteries, but Razer packs a massive 4,000 mAh battery so users can have the freedom to play, watch, and listen without the battery anxiety.
And speaking of powerful battery tech, the Razer Phone is the first smartphone to feature a complete solution for our latest Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ fast-charging technology by including a compatible charger in the box. As the name implies, Quick Charge 4+ builds on Quick Charge 4’s blazing fast technology (we’re talking up-to-50-percent-charge-in-roughly-15-minutes fast) to deliver an even more advanced charging system. Devices with Quick Charge 4+ are engineered to charge more efficiently by delivering power across two charging paths while intelligently balancing thermals. It also includes advanced safety features designed to simultaneously monitor the case and connector.
The Razer Phone comes with 64 GB of available storage as well as an additional microSD card slot. On the front, the phone boasts an 8 MP camera, with dual 12 MP cameras on the back.
The Razer Phone will go on sale at Razer’s online store (GSM only) on November 17 in North America, Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Germany, France, Denmark and Sweden, and through Three mobile network retail locations in the U.K., Ireland, Denmark and Sweden. Pre-orders will begin today at Three outlets and web site, and you can also reserve a device on Razerzone.com.
