RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro Launches on Kickstarter

The RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro has officially launched on Kickstarter with an unusually ambitious proposition for outdoor enthusiasts, content creators and professionals who need their technology to perform far beyond the comfort of an office: instead of carrying both a rugged smartphone and a separate action camera, users can now combine the two devices within one integrated modular platform, then detach the compact camera whenever a more creative, wearable or hands-free shooting perspective is required.

At the centre of this concept is the Xsnap Go, a remarkably light 39g magnetic action-camera module that normally sits inside the rear of the smartphone but can be removed in seconds and mounted on clothing, a helmet, a backpack strap, a handlebar or another compatible accessory. Once detached, the tiny camera continues recording independently while the phone becomes its wireless controller and remote viewfinder, providing a much larger screen for framing footage from positions that would normally be difficult or impossible to monitor.

This is not simply an external camera bundled with a durable handset. The two components have been conceived as parts of the same mobile imaging system, sharing control, storage and power in a way that promises to make action recording more immediate and significantly easier to manage. The result is one of the most distinctive rugged smartphones introduced in 2026 and a product that could genuinely change how adventurers capture their journeys without adding another substantial piece of equipment to their bags.

Detach, Snap and Go
Most smartphone cameras are highly capable when held in the hand, but their fixed position immediately becomes a restriction when the user wants to record a first-person cycling route, attach a camera to outdoor equipment, capture an unusual low-angle perspective or remain visible in the frame while working alone. RugOne addresses this limitation through a detachable camera that transforms the Xsnap 7 Pro from a conventional handheld device into a flexible multi-position recording platform.

The 39g Xsnap Go module can be removed directly from the rear camera dock and used with magnetic, wearable or universal mounting accessories. This allows the same camera to move between the phone, a chest-level pendant, a helmet, a vehicle, a bicycle or a piece of expedition equipment without requiring a separate action-camera kit. It is an especially attractive concept for hikers, cyclists, climbers, travellers, vloggers, field engineers and anyone who wants to document an activity while keeping both hands free.

The camera supports video recording at up to 2.7K and 30 frames per second, using a 133-degree ultra-wide field of view to capture substantially more of the surrounding environment than a typical fixed smartphone perspective. Intelligent distortion correction is designed to preserve the sense of width without allowing people and objects near the edges to become excessively stretched, while RugOne’s SteadyX electronic stabilization helps reduce unwanted movement during walking, riding or other dynamic activities.

Support for 360-degree Horizon Lock is intended to keep footage visually level even when the module changes orientation, and the FreeFrame recording system provides greater freedom to reframe content for different platforms after it has been captured. A single adventure can therefore be adapted for a conventional widescreen video, a vertical social-media clip or another aspect ratio without forcing the user to decide on the final presentation before recording begins.

Additional modes such as time-lapse, slow motion, loop recording, pre-recording and HDR photography expand the creative possibilities of the module. Pre-recording is particularly useful in unpredictable situations because it can preserve moments immediately before the shutter is pressed, reducing the risk of missing wildlife behaviour, a sporting action or an unexpected event simply because recording began a few seconds too late.

The Smartphone Becomes a Remote Viewfinder
Detaching the camera does not mean giving up the convenience of a large display. Through RugOne’s companion software, the Xsnap 7 Pro can act as a wireless viewfinder and controller from a claimed distance of up to 50 metres, allowing users to check composition, start or stop recording and monitor a scene without physically touching the camera.

This separation between the lens and the screen creates far more freedom than a normal smartphone can provide. The action camera can be placed close to the ground while the user remains standing, attached to a moving object while the phone stays safely in hand, or positioned several metres away to record a group shot, campsite, vehicle or outdoor activity. For solo creators, the arrangement effectively adds a second camera operator without requiring another person to be present.

The Xsnap Go contains 64GB of internal storage, which RugOne says is sufficient for up to eight hours of 1080p footage. When the camera is returned to its dock, recordings can be transferred to the smartphone’s much larger 512GB internal storage, simplifying file management while preparing the module for the next session.

Its internal battery provides up to 40 minutes of continuous standalone recording, but the relationship with the smartphone considerably extends its practical endurance. The phone’s enormous 9,300mAh battery can recharge the camera as many as 20 times, enabling a claimed combined recording time of up to 800 minutes across repeated shooting and docking cycles. Actual endurance will naturally depend on recording resolution, wireless monitoring, temperature and other operating conditions, but the integrated charging system should make the camera considerably more useful during long days away from a power outlet.

Waterproof without an Additional Housing
Compact action cameras are frequently placed in the environments most likely to damage ordinary electronics, which makes durability a fundamental part of the Xsnap Go concept rather than a secondary specification. RugOne says the detachable module can operate underwater at depths of up to five metres without requiring a separate protective housing.

Removing the need for an additional waterproof case helps preserve the camera’s compact dimensions and keeps the preparation process straightforward. Users can detach it, select an appropriate mount and begin recording without building a complicated accessory assembly around the module. This capability makes it suitable for rain, shallow-water exploration, kayaking, fishing, muddy trails and other situations where a conventional smartphone camera would be difficult or risky to use.

The main handset is similarly designed for demanding conditions, carrying IP68 and IP69K ratings for resistance to dust, water immersion and high-pressure water exposure. RugOne also states that the Xsnap 7 Pro has been tested according to MIL-STD-810H methods and engineered to withstand drops of up to 1.5 metres onto concrete. As with any rugged device, water and impact resistance can diminish through wear or damage, and accessories are not necessarily protected to the same level, but the certification package places the phone firmly within the serious outdoor category.

A Complete Flagship-Class 5G Smartphone
The detachable camera may be the headline feature, but the Xsnap 7 Pro is also equipped to function as a powerful everyday Android smartphone. Its MediaTek Dimensity 8400 5G platform is paired with 12GB of fast LPDDR5X memory and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, providing the processing performance and data throughput required for demanding applications, multitasking, media editing, mobile gaming and the rapid management of large video files.

The 6.67-inch AMOLED display combines a sharp 1.5K resolution with a fluid 120Hz refresh rate and a claimed peak brightness of up to 1,700 nits. These characteristics should make the screen particularly effective as an outdoor camera monitor, where strong sunlight can render an ordinary display difficult to see. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus adds another layer of protection against scratches and accidental impacts, while the integrated fingerprint sensor allows the phone to retain a clean and modern appearance despite its heavily reinforced construction.

Next-generation 5G connectivity and built-in eSIM support further strengthen its credentials as a travel and expedition device. Users can activate compatible mobile plans digitally without handling a physical SIM card, a valuable convenience when moving between countries or switching to a temporary local data service.

The smartphone ships with RugOne OS based on Android 16, with the manufacturer promising major operating-system upgrades through Android 20. Integrated AI capabilities are expected to include support for familiar services and tools such as intelligent search, real-time translation, call summaries, writing assistance and mathematical recognition, bringing the software experience closer to that of a contemporary flagship rather than a basic rugged handset.

Three Cameras for Three Very Different Situations
Even after the Xsnap Go module has been detached, the phone retains its own highly capable imaging system. A 50MP Samsung GN9 primary camera combines optical and electronic image stabilization, helping produce steadier photographs and video while supporting recording at up to 4K resolution.

This conventional main camera remains the most natural choice for everyday mobile photography, portraits, scenery and moments that do not require the mounting flexibility of the action module. The detachable camera and the 50MP primary sensor therefore complement rather than replace one another: one prioritizes compact, hands-free, ultra-wide recording, while the other delivers the familiar quality and immediacy of a flagship smartphone camera.

A separate 64MP infrared night-vision camera, assisted by dedicated infrared LEDs, introduces an entirely different capability. It is designed to reveal subjects in environments where visible light is extremely limited or completely absent, making it potentially valuable for observing wildlife, inspecting dark spaces, navigating a campsite or documenting nighttime activities. The infrared system is more specialized than an ordinary low-light photography mode because it actively illuminates the scene using light that is not normally visible to the human eye.

A 32MP front-facing camera completes the imaging package for video calls, self-recording and social content. RugOne has also included a dedicated underwater camera mode, allowing the interface and controls to adapt to situations in which the touchscreen may be more difficult to operate normally.

A Massive 9,300mAh Battery for Extended Adventures
Power anxiety can quickly become a serious problem when a smartphone is being used simultaneously for navigation, communication, photography, video recording and action-camera control. RugOne addresses this through a huge 9,300mAh battery, a capacity that substantially exceeds what is available in most mainstream flagship phones.

The manufacturer claims up to seven days of typical use, although practical battery life will depend heavily on screen brightness, 5G activity, GPS navigation, camera use and environmental temperature. More importantly, the additional capacity creates a meaningful reserve for sustained outdoor work and repeated charging of the detachable camera.

The phone supports 45W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. The latter allows the Xsnap 7 Pro to serve as a portable power source for compatible accessories, while the unusually fast wireless charging capability provides a convenient option at home, in a vehicle or at a suitably equipped workstation.

Two Devices Combined into One Adventure Platform
The most persuasive aspect of the RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro is not any individual specification, but the way its components work together. A separate rugged phone and action camera can perform many of the same tasks, yet that arrangement also means carrying two chargers, managing two storage systems, monitoring two batteries and transferring recordings between unrelated applications and devices.

RugOne’s modular approach condenses this workflow into a single platform. The action camera travels securely docked inside the phone, draws power from the handset between recordings and transfers its footage back to the phone’s internal storage. When a different perspective is required, the user can remove it and begin recording without searching through a backpack for another device.

It is a particularly appealing solution for creators who want to travel light, outdoor professionals who must keep equipment manageable and adventurers who value the ability to react quickly when an interesting moment appears. The camera’s 39g construction also makes it easier to wear for extended periods than a heavier conventional action camera, especially when mounted on clothing or a pendant.

Now Live on Kickstarter
The RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro is now available through its official Kickstarter campaign, with limited quantities offered to early supporters. Super Early Bird campaign pricing has been advertised from €799, while the planned wider retail price is expected to reach $999 in the United States and €1,099.99 in Europe. Final pricing, reward availability, shipping eligibility and estimated delivery conditions should be checked directly on the campaign page because Kickstarter offers can change as individual reward tiers sell out.

As with every crowdfunding campaign, backing the Xsnap 7 Pro is not identical to purchasing a finished product through a conventional retail store. Production schedules, final specifications and delivery dates can change, so potential supporters should examine the campaign information, warranty coverage, regional network compatibility, taxes and shipping conditions before making a pledge.

Nevertheless, the underlying idea is immediately compelling. The RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro brings together a capable 5G rugged smartphone, a 39g detachable action camera, a 50MP stabilized main camera, 64MP infrared night vision, a bright 120Hz AMOLED display and an enormous 9,300mAh battery within one integrated system. For users who regularly move between communication, navigation, photography and action recording, it promises something more useful than another incremental smartphone upgrade: a genuinely different way to capture an adventure.

With its memorable “Detach. Snap. Go.” philosophy, the Xsnap 7 Pro demonstrates how modular design can solve a real problem rather than existing purely as a technical novelty. It keeps an action camera ready at all times, removes it whenever the situation demands a more imaginative viewpoint and returns it to the phone for charging, control and storage. For explorers, athletes, field professionals and independent creators, that combination could make the RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro one of the most original rugged devices of the year.
