RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro: Where Would You Mount Its Action Cam?
Most rugged smartphones are designed to survive the adventure, but the RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro wants to record it from almost any angle. Its defining feature is Xsnap Go, a compact action camera that detaches from the back of the phone and weighs only 39 grams, allowing it to leave the handset behind and become a wearable, mountable or remotely positioned camera.
The magnetic module can be attached to metal surfaces such as gym equipment, railings, motorcycles, shelving or camping gear, while the available magnetic pendant creates a hands-free, first-person shooting setup. A universal mount expands the possibilities further, making it easy to position the camera on a tripod, selfie stick or other compatible support. Instead of holding a large rugged phone throughout an activity, users can place this tiny camera where the action is actually happening and control the scene from the handset.
Xsnap Go records video at up to 2.7K and 30 frames per second through a 133-degree ultra-wide lens, supported by distortion correction, SteadyX stabilization and Horizon Lock. It has 64GB of internal storage, up to 40 minutes of independent recording time and water resistance at depths of up to five meters. When returned to the phone, the module can transfer its footage wirelessly and draw power from the handset’s enormous battery, with RugOne claiming that it can be recharged as many as 20 times.
This modular approach could be especially useful for cycling, motorcycling, hiking, climbing, camping, workouts, repair projects or creative behind-the-scenes footage. The phone remains safely in your pocket or backpack while its camera captures a wide point of view from a helmet, chest, handlebar, tent pole or nearby metal surface. The real attraction is not merely that the camera comes off, but that it can be placed in locations where an ordinary smartphone would be too heavy, vulnerable or inconvenient.
Behind the detachable camera is a serious 5G rugged flagship. The Xsnap 7 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 platform and combines 12GB of RAM with 512GB of storage. Its 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display offers a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, while the 9,300mAh battery supports 45W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
The integrated imaging system is equally ambitious, pairing a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization with a dedicated 64MP infrared night-vision camera capable of seeing in complete darkness. A 32MP front camera handles selfies and video calls, while the detachable module covers the action-camera role. Together, these cameras give the Xsnap 7 Pro a level of versatility rarely found in one mobile device.
Its rugged construction carries IP68 and IP69K protection alongside MIL-STD-810H certification, making the phone suitable for outdoor adventures and demanding working environments. Despite carrying such a large battery, multiple cameras and a reinforced body, the Xsnap 7 Pro remains a complete everyday Android smartphone rather than a single-purpose outdoor tool.
The RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro is now available through its Kickstarter campaign, with an advertised Early Bird offer of US$899 in the current promotional material, compared with a listed retail price of US$1,099. As with any crowdfunding campaign, availability, reward pricing and delivery conditions should be checked directly on the campaign page before backing.
The question is no longer simply where you would take your rugged phone. With a 39-gram camera that snaps off and keeps filming, the more interesting question is: where would you mount it?
