Samsung Galaxy A70S may be a mid-range refreshed version of Galaxy A70
Samsung recently introduced its 64-megapixel camera sensor. However, it was still unclear in which smartphone model the new ISOCELL sensor would celebrate its premiere. But a recent report brings light into the darkness. According to him, the Samsung Galaxy A70S will be the first smartphone with a 64-megapixel camera.
As ETNews reports, Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy A70S as a successor to the current Galaxy A70 in the second half of this year. It’s not surprising that the device will be equipped with the new camera highlight. After all, Samsung has been testing new developments in its smartphone middle class for some time now. For example, the manufacturer has tried out the first rotating camera in the Galaxy A80.

With its new camera sensor, Samsung wants to put more pressure on competitors like Sony. The 64 megapixel ISOCELL sensor currently has the highest pixel density, making individual pixels much smaller than other sensors. Samsung speaks of 0.8 µm. In this case, the sensor combines four pixels to form a larger pixel in order to achieve good images in darkness despite the small pixels. This results in more strongly exposed images with 16 megapixels.
“Smartphone cameras evolve rapidly every year,” said Kwon Jin-Hyun, team leader of Samsung Electronics’ sensor marketing team. While it took about 34 months for smartphone manufacturers to equip 20 percent of their products with dual cameras, it took only about 18 months to equip 20 percent of their products with triple cameras. “In 2020, it will be common to see entry-level smartphones with dual cameras on the back.

But it is supposed to be a kind of refreshed version of the already known Galaxy A70, which is why the smartphone only gets the letter S as a name suffix. The Samsung Galaxy A70 was only introduced by the manufacturer in March 2019. With its 6.7 inch display, it is one of the larger devices on the market. Even the Tripla camera has a resolution of 32 megapixels, which is not exactly low on this model. But the new model is supposed to increase this resolution even more.
