Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is first Snapdragon 820 powered tablet
Making its debut at Mobile World Congress (MWC) this week, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is the first commerical tablet powered by the premium Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The result: next-level video and gaming experiences.
Powered by the Snapdragon 820
These experiences come courtesy of the Snapdragon 820’s integrated X12 LTE modem, Qualcomm Adreno 530 GPU, and 2×2 MU-MIMO 11ac Wi-Fi technology, and all of which are designed to deliver premium entertainment. The modem and Wi-Fi components are engineered to prevent awkward lags when streaming videos or games, thanks to its lightning-fast download and upload speeds, whether you are indoor on the go.
The X12 LTE modem supports Category 12 downlink speeds of up to 600 Mbps — 33 percent faster than the previous-generation X10 LTE modem — and Category 13 uplink speeds of up to 150 Mbps, which is 3X faster than the X10. The Wi-Fi tech supports up to 867 Mbps peak speed, and the high capacity offered by MU-MIMO, which is especially helpful in crowded conditions.
As the graphics backbone of the Galaxy Tab S3, the Adreno 530 GPU (with the help of the Qualcomm Kryo CPU) is designed to deliver photo-realistic graphics that were once reserved for console games directly to your tablet. The GPU offers a 40 percent improvement to graphics performance, compute capabilities, and power usage compared to its predecessor, the Adreno 430. And graphics-rich mobile gaming lasts longer: The processing unit is efficient, reducing power consumption by up to 40 percent compared to the Adreno 430, so you spend less time charging and more time beating your highest score.
For the gaming aficionado
The Snapdragon 820 supports the Vulkan API, a program interface that works with the GPU to handle any high-end graphics thrown its way. The highly efficient API maintains a balance of GPU and CPU workloads, helping to deter compromises when rendering applications.
The Galaxy Tab S3 is equipped with other game-centric features, including Game Launcher, which offers an enhanced user interface and a more personalized gaming experience. Players can also turn on the Do Not Disturb mode, which shuts down notifications for uninterrupted gameplay.
For the budding filmmaker
With such a powerful GPU, this powerful tablet is capable of becoming more than a replacement for your game console. The device has a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera for recording crisp footage and photos. Support for HDR video with 4K video playback and quad-stereo speakers tuned by AKG by HARMAN Acoustics contribute to a cinema-like experience.
Rounding out the tablet is Samsung Flow designed for working on the go seamlessly, the refined S Pen, and the Pogo Keyboard to enable the versatile use. The Galaxy Tab S3 also comes with expandable storage and fast-charge capabilities.
Powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor, the Galaxy Tab S3 is engineered for graphics-rich video and gaming on the go.
