Softears VolumeS 2DD+2BA Quad-Driver IEMs Launched
In the world of HiFi audio, Softears is a well-recognized name. Over the past few years, Softears has made a great reputation among audiophiles for their excellent range of in-ear monitors such as Twilight, Turii, Volume, Studio4, etc. Softears Volume is one of the top products that the brand has made available in the market. Audiophiles globally loved the pair for its sonic capabilities and clean design.
Softears has now released a brand new upgraded version for the Volume, let’s meet the all-new Softears VolumeS. VolumeS is a brand new IEM that is developed as a complete upgrade over the OG Volume with an all-new design, all-new driver setup, etc. Softears VolumeS features a quad-driver architecture featuring dual-dynamic drivers and dual-balanced armature driver configuration on each side. The pair brings two sound tuning profiles, Classical and Pop with two impedance designs (Low Impedance and High Impedance). Prepare yourself to experience the charming sound of the all-new Softears VolumeS, available now with us.
Softears has upgraded the driver setup on the VolumeS. It packs a four-driver configuration featuring dual dynamic drivers and dual balanced armature drivers. The pair benefits from a combination of active and passive dynamic driver units. It houses a 10mm active dynamic driver unit with a silicone diaphragm. Softears has equipped a 6mm passive dynamic driver unit as well.
It adopts wool diaphragm material and is placed inverted at the dome position of the active dynamic driver unit. This active-passive design effectively absorbs unwanted noise outside the bass frequencies and results in a rich, denser bass region with great details and low distortion. As for the dual BA driver here, Softears has equipped the VolumeS with a custom-developed composite BA driver unit. It is a combination of ED and WBFK drivers. This dual composite BA acts as a full-frequency driver for a coherent sound presentation.
Softears VolumeS has dual-tuning modes, Classical and Pop. Professional acoustic engineers have designed the pair with a new concept known as bus impedance. Using a crossover switch, users can switch between high-impedance and low-impedance modes. Both modes have different tuning profiles. One mode gives you a lively, detailed sound following the HRTF curve perfect for pop music while the other delivers a natural, smooth sound ideal for classical music. Softears VolumeS packs two different sounds in a single package. For smooth switching between both modes, the pair has a Japanese Copal mode switch on the face covers. The pair comes with a tool to change the mode conveniently.
Softears has implemented a flagship-level RC electronic crossover on the VolumeS. This was originally implemented in their current flagship RS10. It helps the brand to achieve groundbreaking sound performance and adjust the performance of each driver unit. The pair has a three-way crossover. With high adaptability and ultra-low loss, the RC Tuning Network provides a fuller sound response across the frequency band.
The VolumeS has multiple precisely tuned crossover components to filter out the frequencies and adjust their performance. This technology effectively filters excess signals and achieves even impedance distribution across the entire frequency range ensuring high-resolution clarity and ultra-low distortion.
Along with the precise Electronic crossover, the Softears VolumeS also has a physical duct structure designed for a clean sound response. To ensure proper phase consistency and a rich sound output, the acoustic tube structure is adjusted with the shortest possible tubes with minimal bending.
We also have a strip pressure relief design on the pair. The VolumeS is designed with a physical rear-chamber pressure release design along with a front-chamber high-pass filter patented design. This dual-sided air-pressure relief technology greatly enhances the wearing comfort for the users and at the same time ensures a proper bass response without any pressure buildup issues within the cavity.
Softears VolumeS has got a design upgrade as well over the previous model. The new shells are crafted in collaboration with HeyGears, a professional 3D printing brand. They have designed the inner shells of the VolumeS to be highly ergonomic and lightweight. For eye-catching looks, the VolumeS features designer face panels. They are crafted using a high-precision 5-axis CNC machining process made up of high-quality aluminum alloy material.
The face panels also have carbon fiber inlaid at the center. Softears bundles the VolumeS with a high-quality stock cable. It is a soft-braided paracord cable made up of high-quality OFC wire cores. The cable adopts interchangeable termination plugs with 3.5mm and 4.4mm swappable plugs. Softears VolumeS is a new generation to an all-time classic set of in-ear monitors.
