Ulefone Metal Launched, a 5′ Metallic 3GB Octa-core Device
Today Ulefone announce a new 5-inch device named Ulefone Metal, which, the company says, will offer users all premium experiences for best price available. According to the design and specs, this model should be Ulefone’s major player in the mid-range arena.
As its name suggests, Ulefone Metal is stuffed in a magnesium-aluminum alloy unibody approached with CNC cutting technique. Following Ulefone’s conventional designing language, the metal body has slight curve near the edges to deliver better grip feel. On the front side, there is an overall piece of 2.5D Corning Gorilla glass. So in general, Ulefone metal is supposed to deliver a solid while smooth visual impression.
Inside the phone, there are MTK6753 octa-core 64-bit chipset, 3GB RAM, and 16GB storage. 3GB RAM is apparently a bonus point for mid-range device since it will greatly improves multitasking performance. And MTK6753 has proven its capability on most phones with 5.5-inch 1080P display, so 5-inch HD device won’t be a big deal for its MALI T720 GPU.
For photography, Ulefone Metal has adopted Sony IMX149 8MP CMOS (interpolated to 13MP) and a 5-piece lens kit. Ulefone says fewer pixels will not lead to downgrade in imaging since the high-accuracy lens will ensure better single-pixel quality. Besides, the pre-installed camera app will offer manual mode in the user interface for modification of exposure, ISO and white balance.
Another plus point on Ulefone Metal is its adoption of fingerprint scanner, which will support at most 5 fingerprint IDs with each to open a specific app. Ulefone says the Metal will be the most moderately priced phone available for this function.
The 3050mAh li-polymer battery of Ulefone Metal is supposed to last heavy users a full day or light users 1.5 days. It’s predictable that 5-inch display consumes less energy than 5.5-inch display while GPU will also work at lower capacity on HD resolution than FHD.
Based on Android 6.0, the Ulefone Metal software will have some tweaks such as multitask window like AssistiveTouch on iPhone and graphics interface in the settings app.
In terms of body color, Ulefone Metal will be available in 3 versions. Among them, black and grey will both have black front side while the silver will have white face.
