UMi Hammer S starts shipping from September 22
UMI Hammer S is the next generation model to the popular rugged UMI Hammer smartphone. The company has been teasing this new phone for quite some time now. In fact, if you have been following the company, many of you may have participated in the UMI Hammer S Treasure Hunt contest that ran for weeks.
And now, the UMi Hammer S will finally start shipping from September 22. So those who have been eagerly waiting for their pre-ordered devices can expect to receive their parcels soon. The super cheap $130 price tag with latest specs and a beautiful body makes the Hammer S a steal for its price.
The Hammer S comes with the new USB Type-C port. You only find this new-age reversible port on premium devices, so its good to see that a sub-$150 smartphone can boast of this connector. Another important feature of the UMI Hammer S is its fingerprint sensor that’s located at the back. The sensor can recognize up to 5 different registered fingerprints. Also, UMi claims that the sensor can unlock the device in just a second. Along with these two features, the Infrared port on top is definitely an added plus.
As for the specs, the UMi Hammer S comes with the quad-core MT6735 chip under the hood, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, further expandable via MicroSD. The 5.5-inch display up front with 720p resolution will be adorned by the 2.5D curved glass. Finally, UMi has even made sure that the phone lasts for more than a day by incorporating a large 3200mAh battery on board. The company claims that this provides up to 11 hours of 4G internet browsing. And if the actual battery life is anywhere close to this figure, you can easily use the device for a couple of days under moderate usage. As for the camera, there is the IMX 179 13MP sensor at the back and a 2MP shooter up front. You also get the new Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out of the box.
Overall a great value for money device! Do check out their website for more information.
