To contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic is still a major concern in 2021. A fever can be an early indicator of infection so you can see temperature measurement everywhere. To meet people’s need in daily life and make temperature-taking more convenient, the Chinese tech brand UMIDIGI integrates a new sensor, an infrared thermometer, into its smartphones, and provides them to the global market.
Since the launch of the world’s first entry-level smartphone with infrared thermometer UMIDIGI A7S, to fight against COVID-19, now UMIDIGI has 3 entry-level smartphones already featuring this feature, UMIDIGI A9, A9 Pro, and A7S. Of course, a smartphone’s infrared thermometer sensor might not be as accurate as conventional thermometers, but they can take the temperature of many people at a time. And UMIDIGI claims the minimum division value of its phone thermometer is accurate to 0.2 ℃, making it very close to conventional thermometers.
In a YouTube video, UMIDIGI demonstrates how the temperature measurement feature works. Just aim the phone at someone’s forehead, tap through the app, and the phone will give you a temperature reading.
UMIDIGI’s temperature-taking smartphones have become a big hit worldwide, not only due to the temperature-taking feature but also their other great specs for the money. Take UMIDIGI A9 Pro as an example, the phone features Sony 48MP quad rear camera, Sony 24MP selfie camera, up to 6GB + 128GB, 6.3″ FHD+ display, and glass back & metal frame premium design. And the A9 Pro starts at only US$129.99 all over the world, while the cheaper version UMIDIGI A9 and A7S are just around US$100.
UMIDIGI A9 Max: Upcoming Powerful Entry-Level Phone with Temperature Sensor
After the success of its current temperature-taking smartphones, UMIDIGI is going to offer you a more powerful option, UMIDIGI A9 Max, which houses up to 8GB RAM. As the teaser shows. It should come with a similar design and camera specs to UMIDIGI A9 Pro. And the price is expected to be under US$200.
