Display
The notch-less design is the trend and it’s rumored the next year’s flagship Redmi K30 and OnePlus 8 would feature the hole-punch display. The UMIDIGI Power 3 also features a big 6.53-inch notch-less FHD+ hole-punch display, while the Redmi Note 8 comes with a 6.3-inch panel with a water drop notch.
Camera
The rear quad camera setup of the two phones is quite similar but the UMIDIGI Power 3 has a better 13MP ultra wide camera while the Redmi Note 8’s one is 8MP. For selfie, the Power 3 boasts a 16MP front camera while the Note 8 has a 13MP one.
Battery and Charging
The UMIDIGI Power 3 has a 6150mAh massive battery, which is way bigger than Redmi Note 8’s(4000mAh). Both phones support 18W fast charge but the Note 8 is shipped with 10W charger. Noteworthy, the Power 3 supports 10W fast OTG reverse charging while the Note 8 only support about 2.5W OTG reverse charging like most of phones.
Performance
The two phones have similar performance. The UMIDIGI Power 3 is powered by Helio P60 chipsets, and the Redmi Note 8 comes with Snapdragon 665, both of which score about 140k in Antutu v7. And the Power 3 comes with NFC for Google Pay but the Note 8 doesn’t.
System
Not many devices now come with the latest Android 10 OS, and UMIDIGI Power 3 is one of them. The Power 3 comes with the stock Android 10 without ads and bloatware while Redmi Note 8 features MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0.
Price
UMIDIGI Power 3 carries a US$149.99 price tag when it starts global sale at 00:00 PST, November 11 on AliExpress, and the discounted price will last in AliExpress’ 11.11 Global Shopping Festival in November 11 – 12. After that the price will go up to US$169.99. And Redmi Note 8 costs you $214 for the same 4GB + 64GB memory configurations. Overall I think the UMIDIGI Power 3 offers a higher value for money.
