VOOPOO has once again expanded its popular ARGUS family with a compact pod system focused on portability, simplicity and flexibility. The new VOOPOO ARGUS Z3 Multi-Ohm Ultra-Portable Pod takes the familiar ARGUS philosophy and combines it with a new cartridge concept that allows users to switch between two resistance levels. After spending time with the ARGUS Z3 and examining the device, cartridge and accessories, I found it to be a particularly interesting evolution of the compact pod format. It is not designed to overwhelm the user with complicated controls or unnecessary menus. Instead, VOOPOO has concentrated on making the device lightweight, comfortable, easy to fill and straightforward to use. For this review, I tested the Denim Blue version, which in my opinion is one of the most attractive finishes in the ARGUS Z3 range. The combination of the textured blue body, dark metallic details and transparent cartridge gives the device a considerably more premium appearance than its compact dimensions initially suggest.
Unboxing the VOOPOO ARGUS Z3
The ARGUS Z3 arrives in the characteristic yellow VOOPOO packaging, with the device prominently presented on the front together with information about the ARGUS Multi-Ohm cartridge. Opening the box reveals a very straightforward package. VOOPOO has included the ARGUS Z3 device, the ARGUS Multi-Ohm cartridge, a USB Type-C charging cable and the user documentation. There is also additional information explaining how to use the cartridge and how to get the best results from it. The presentation is clean and practical, and I appreciate that VOOPOO has avoided filling the package with unnecessary accessories. The separate ARGUS Multi-Ohm cartridge packaging immediately caught my attention because this is one of the most interesting aspects of the ARGUS Z3. Rather than using a conventional fixed-resistance cartridge, this system introduces selectable resistance, giving the user more flexibility from the same pod.
My First Impression of the ARGUS Z3
The first thing I noticed when I picked up the ARGUS Z3 was its weight. At approximately 41.6 grams, this is an extremely light device. Despite measuring 113 × 27.6 × 16.6 mm, it feels remarkably unobtrusive in the hand and should be equally comfortable to carry in a pocket throughout the day. The overall design is rectangular but nicely rounded at the edges. The body doesn’t feel excessively angular, and the textured exterior gives me a much better grip than a completely smooth plastic construction would provide. The Denim Blue version I received looks particularly good. The textured surface catches the light differently depending on the angle, while the darker edges and metallic elements provide a nice contrast. It is a very understated design, but that is actually one of the things I like about it. VOOPOO hasn’t tried to make the ARGUS Z3 look unnecessarily aggressive or complicated. It is compact, modern and discreet.
Build Quality and Design
The ARGUS Z3 uses PCTG together with its textured exterior construction to achieve a balance between low weight and everyday durability. When I hold the device, it doesn’t feel excessively lightweight or hollow despite its 41.6-gram weight. The textured surface is particularly useful because it provides additional grip while also reducing the visibility of fingerprints compared with glossy finishes. The front of the device is extremely clean. The ARGUS branding is positioned towards the lower section, while the LED indicators are located above it. There is no large screen dominating the body and no complicated control interface. This minimalist approach works very well for the intended purpose of the device. The airflow adjustment is integrated into the body, maintaining the clean appearance while still giving the user control over the draw. The cartridge sits securely in the upper section of the device through a magnetic connection. The connection is essentially hidden when the pod is installed, which contributes to the seamless appearance.
The ARGUS Multi-Ohm Cartridge
For me, the most interesting feature of the ARGUS Z3 is the new ARGUS Multi-Ohm Cartridge. The cartridge supplied with the device allows the user to select between 0.7 Ω and 1.0 Ω resistance. The selection is made directly on the cartridge, meaning the same pod can provide two different operating configurations. The recommended ranges are approximately 14–18 W for the 0.7 Ω configuration and 10–14 W for the 1.0 Ω configuration. I think this is a clever approach because it gives the user considerably more flexibility without requiring two completely different cartridges. The cartridge also offers a capacity of up to 3.5 ml, depending on the applicable market configuration. The transparent construction makes it very easy to see the remaining e-liquid, which is something I always appreciate with pod systems. Instead of having to remove the cartridge simply to check whether it needs filling, the liquid level can be inspected directly.
Top-Side Filling
VOOPOO has equipped the ARGUS Z3 cartridge with a top-side filling system. To refill it, the cartridge can be removed from the device and the silicone stopper accessed. Once the filling port is opened, the e-liquid can be added directly before closing the stopper again. This is considerably more convenient than some older pod designs that require the user to locate a small filling port underneath the cartridge. The transparent pod also makes the process more convenient because I can immediately see how much liquid is inside. For an everyday device, this combination of a relatively large capacity, visible liquid level and top filling makes a lot of sense.
Airflow Design
The ARGUS Z3 uses a U-shaped airflow system with hidden air inlets designed to provide a consistent airflow while reducing the possibility of accidentally covering the inlet with the hand. The cartridge itself incorporates a four-hole airflow arrangement, creating an additional airflow path before the vapor reaches the mouthpiece. It doesn’t require a large external airflow mechanism that would interrupt the clean appearance of the device. The airflow can also be adjusted, allowing the user to move between a more restricted and a more open draw.
Everyday Operation
The ARGUS Z3 is designed to be exceptionally straightforward to operate. Its automatic draw activation means that there is no complicated sequence to remember. Once the cartridge is installed and the device is ready, drawing on the mouthpiece activates the system automatically. There is also an ignition button, giving users an alternative way of operating the device. I think this simplicity is one of the most important characteristics of the ARGUS Z3. It is clearly intended to be a device that can be picked up and used without having to spend significant time navigating menus or adjusting complicated parameters. The GENE AI 3.0 chipset handles the electronic side of the operation, with an output range of 5–20 W and a supported resistance range of 0.4–3.0 Ω. Most of the electronics remain invisible to the user, which is appropriate for this particular category of device.
Battery and Charging
Inside the ARGUS Z3 is a built-in 1100 mAh battery, offering a generous capacity for such a compact device. I appreciate the convenience of USB Type-C charging at 5V/1A, while the four LED indicators make it easy to check the remaining battery level at a glance. Battery life depends on the resistance used, output level, and frequency of use, so the time between charges will vary with individual usage habits.
Ergonomics and Portability
The ARGUS Z3 is particularly convincing as a portable device. The combination of its 113 mm height, narrow body and 41.6-gram weight makes it extremely easy to carry. I can comfortably hold it between my fingers without feeling that I am carrying a substantial piece of hardware. At the same time, it is large enough to sit naturally in the hand rather than feeling like an excessively small device. The textured exterior also contributes to the ergonomics. It provides enough grip to make the device feel secure without making the surface uncomfortable. My Hands-On Experience

During my hands-on experience, the ARGUS Z3 felt particularly well suited to users who want an uncomplicated MTL-oriented pod system. Having 0.7 Ω and 1.0 Ω options in the same cartridge adds a meaningful degree of flexibility, while the adjustable airflow provides another level of personalization. I also appreciate the practical details. The top-fill system is convenient, the transparent cartridge makes the liquid level easy to monitor, the magnetic connection is clean and secure, and USB Type-C charging keeps the device aligned with modern hardware expectations. The Denim Blue finish I tested looks particularly attractive, with its textured surface providing both visual character and a comfortable grip. For my daily use, the strongest characteristic of the ARGUS Z3 remains its portability. At only 41.6 grams, it is extremely easy to carry, yet the 1100 mAh battery and Multi-Ohm cartridge give it considerably more capability than its compact dimensions might suggest.
