Wildlife Filmmakers Swapped Their Pro Cameras for the new OPPO Reno2
World-leading smartphone brand OPPO recently invited filmmakers to swap their professional cameras for the all-new OPPO Reno2 to produce the brand’s hilarious new wildlife-themed commercials, with stunning results. The commercials successfully highlight the versatility and outstanding photo and film capabilities of the Reno2, especially its ability to create professional-grade footage across a range of environments and different times of the day.
Powerful Video Shooting Capability Creates Professional Quality Footage
The two 30-second commercials follow the format of a wildlife documentary, filming a whole raft of African animals as they scratch, munch and joke their way through the day. Goofy, playful voiceovers were used to depict critters like a Hyena practicing yoga in the morning, a clueless giraffe posing for a selfie, zebras cracking zebra jokes, and much more hilarity.
The camera footage is striking and well-colored, with high-resolution shots that look near identical to a professional wildlife documentary, thanks to the Reno2’s powerful camera technology, like its ultra-wide angle shots, a 5x hybrid zoom, Ultra Steady Video and Ultra Dark Mode. Overall, this impressive piece of technology allowed the camera crew to capture all the action on the African savannah in stunning detail.
Reno2 Quad-cam Pushes the Limits of Users’ Creativity
In August this year, OPPO first unveiled the Reno2 smartphone, which promises to push the limits of users’ creativity. The Reno2 comes equipped with a 48MP quad camera setup, bolstered by photo enhancement features like Ultra Dark Mode, allowing users to enjoy ultra-clear night shots picking up details invisible to the human eye, and Ultra Steady Video, bringing ‘action camera’ level quality for exceptionally clear and smooth video.
The Reno2 brings users more creative possibilities for their photography, including HDR, ultra wide angle, and a telephoto lens that enables 5x Hybrid Zoom, as well as portrait capabilities and much more. The Reno2 was designed for creators who want to pursue the ultimate in creativity, and so the device comes packed with more functions to help them see the world differently.
Reno2 Stands Up to the Rigors of Filming a Wildlife Documentary
Producing the commercials saw the camera crew leaving their usual camera equipment behind to shoot with the latest OPPO Reno2 and explore its exciting camera features. “The Reno2’s zoom feature is great, and it provides an ultra-wide angle all the way to a 5x hybrid zoom, allowing me to get much closer to the animals”, said Jayaprakash Bojan, chief camera man for the commercial, also the National Geographic Award-winning Photographer. “Something else that really suits my style is the 48-megapixel resolution because it adds so much detail to the image so that the viewer has a real sense of where we are. Overall, I can’t believe I can now do all of this with a smartphone.”
The Reno2 also helped bring out the rich, colorful hues of the African savannah, with its impressive High Dynamic Range and amazing color capture. Ultra Dark Mode helped the team capture the gorgeous shades of an African sunset, as well as beautiful low light scenes of monkeys and lions at dusk. Despite the bumpy roads, the team were easily able to use the Reno2 to capture smooth, shake-free footage of zebras and other wildlife, thanks to its leading Ultra Steady Video stabilization technology. In addition, the phone’s durable 4,000mAh battery meant that they even ended their busy day filming with plenty of battery charge left.
As well as its advanced quad camera setup and enhanced camera capabilities, the Reno2 also comes with a host of impressive features that boost the user experience. These include Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 730G octa-core processor ensuring a powerful gaming experience, the updated ColorOS 6.1, featuring a smoother and more enjoyable navigation, plus a user-centric design that combines practicality with style. With the Reno2, OPPO has created an exciting new handset that is well equipped to cater to the photo and film needs of young creators around the world.
