Three new Xiaomi phones are development, all three with FOD, a fingerprint sensor right in the display. The former premium feature is wandering further and further down into the middle class and will probably also be found at the successor of the Android One mobile phone Mi A2.

Xiaomi Mi A3

The professionals from the XDA Developer Forum have found initial evidence of three new Xiaomi midrangers codenamed pyxis, bamboo _ sprout and cosmos _ sprout. The term “sprout ” refers to Android One instead of MIUI, so it is assumed that the three Xiaomi phones will be the Mi A3, the Mi A3 Lite as well as the Chinese variant with MiUI, Mi 7X.

The devices are tested with FOD, the abbreviation for fingerprint sensor-under display, i.e. a sensor directly in the display, which nowadays is no longer reserved only for premium class, especially with Chinese manufacturers such as Vivo and Xiaomi. Since LCD panels have not mastered such a thing to date, we can expect the new Android One mid-rangers to hit the market with AMOLED display.

Specs and pictures of the new Mi trio are not yet known, but presumably processors of the Snapdragon 600 series will be installed here again, for example the new Snapdragon 675 for the Mi A3 as a successor to the Snapdragon 660 in the Mi A2. The Mi 6X was launched in China at the end of April 2018, which means that the China variant of the Mi A3 is expected as early as next month.
