YBA VIBE P1: French Hi-Fi Goes Fully Portable
Premium headphone listening no longer needs to revolve around a full-size audio system, and the new YBA VIBE P1 makes that idea particularly appealing, bringing together a proprietary R2R DAC, a powerful headphone amplifier and extensive sound customization in a compact aluminium device designed to travel with your smartphone. Introduced in September 2026, with October pricing announced at $599 or €649, the P1 opens a new chapter for YBA, carrying the French Hi-Fi brand into personal audio with a product built for listening at home, at your desk and wherever the day takes you.
At the heart of the VIBE P1 sits an R2R DAC developed with Shanling, featuring 126 high-precision resistors arranged in a 19+5-bit architecture, giving enthusiasts an intriguing alternative to the conversion technology found in many portable DACs. Alongside this resistor-based design, selectable NOS and OS modes let listeners explore non-oversampling and oversampling operation, adding another way to tailor the experience to their preferences and music collection.
A dedicated headphone amplifier circuit, built around two ADA4610 and four BUF434A components, complements the DAC with a low-impedance output and a headline power rating of 1.3W into 32Ω, positioning the P1 for use with both sensitive earphones and more demanding audiophile headphones. Its internal battery supports fully portable listening, while a second USB port enables External Power Mode, providing additional power for full-size headphones when an external supply is available and making the same compact device useful beyond the daily commute.
Measuring just 93 × 65 × 14mm and weighing only 120g, the VIBE P1 is small enough to sit behind a smartphone without turning a portable listening setup into something cumbersome, with a MagSafe case option adding further appeal for phone-based use. The durable aluminium chassis, front glass panel and 2.23-inch screen take their design cues from YBA’s established Signature and Genesis models, while an optional PU leather case, sold separately, offers extra protection for everyday travel.
Connectivity also reaches beyond the usual smartphone-and-laptop pairing, giving the P1 a useful role within an existing Hi-Fi system. A dedicated USB M1 input chip handles digital communication with a connected phone or computer, while the supplied RCA-to-USB-C adapter cable enables coaxial S/PDIF input from compatible sources such as CD players and Hi-Fi streamers, allowing this pocket-sized DAC to move between portable and home listening duties.
The onboard screen makes settings accessible directly on the device, including quick changes between NOS and OS operation, but the newly introduced parametric equalizer is an especially welcome addition for headphone enthusiasts who want greater control over their sound. With configuration available through a Chrome web interface or the Eddict Player app on Android, the PEQ system provides a practical route to adjusting tonal balance for different headphones and individual listening preferences.
As the first member of YBA’s new VIBE series, the P1 develops the personal-audio direction started by the YBA Design One into a dedicated range aimed at headphone users, compact desktop systems and portable Hi-Fi enthusiasts. At $599 or €649, its appeal lies in the combination of R2R conversion, substantial amplification, flexible digital inputs and adjustable sound, all packaged in a device small enough to become part of an everyday listening routine.
