Zopo Speed 8 is the first and only deca-core in the World! Where are all the others?
Once again ZOPO keeps its pioneer tradition, as it did before bringing the first 3D glass-free smartphone to the chinese market, and when it launched the first octa-core smartphone in 2013.
ZOPO had an hugely successful stay at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona. The introduction of the new Speed 8 powered by MediaTek’s Helio X20 was the subject of overwhelming media attention and kick jumped ZOPO into the spotlight. The lights shone so bright indeed that very quickly the shadow of a very big white elephant started to cast its weight over the post-MWC news roundups: where were all the other deca-core smartphones expected to show up at the MWC?
For most of the past year since the Helio X20 was officially announced, many rumors and official confirmations started to fly around concerning the new generation of smartphones carrying the future deca-core SoC. Brands such as Xiaomi, HTC, Meizu, as well as less known Doogee, Shallots, Elephone, Oukitel among others have been mentioned on the subject of being the firsts to bring the Helio X20 to the market. The Mobile World Congress was, naturally, the stage where all these potential reveals would happen… but didn’t.
Together with brand ambassador and MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo, ZOPO did reveal the new deca-core Speed 8, with many media outlets present to try it out first-hand and spreading the news worldwide! Price and release date included (299.99€, April 2016). As for other Helio X20 powered smartphones, the silence heard throughout the days during the MWC was deafening.
Doogee did show their new F7 model using the Helio X20…or did they? From all sources published so far, Doogee indeed showed a device allegedly powered by the Helio X20, however they never showed it turned on, and according to many different sources, only one sample was ever shown in public, always turned off. So it could be just a dummy with the insides of a Nokia 3310 for all we know. And no exact release date or price was mentioned.
All said and done, at the end of the World Mobile Congress, and as far as this writing goes, the ZOPO Speed 8 is the first and only smartphone powered by the fastest and most powerful MediaTek SoC, Helio X20. And you can have it very soon in April, at 299.99€! To know more about the Speed 8, check out the official product page.
