MediaTek Dimensity Series Set to Power New Wave of 5G Smartphone Experiences…
MediaTek Dimensity Series Set to Power New Wave of 5G Smartphone Experiences for European Consumers. Starting with the Dimensity 800, major smartphone brands will meet consumer demand for ultra-fast 5G, power efficiency and AI capabilities at a mid-tier price point.
MediaTek today announced its Dimensity series of 5G chipsets is powering the next wave of 5G devices from leading smartphone brands coming to Europe. The first devices, which will launch in October, will be powered by the Dimensity 800 which is optimized for the mid-tier smartphone market, powering super-fast performance and leading energy efficiency for a premium experience at an affordable price point.
“In Europe, demand for 5G continues to grow yet choice in 5G smartphones and chipsets has been restricted, excluding a wide cross-section of consumers,” said Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit. “MediaTek is powering the next generation in mobile computing and the Dimensity 800 is bringing the benefits of 5G to a wider audience than ever before.”
The Dimensity 800 brings seamless 5G connectivity, advanced AI capabilities, energy efficiency and powerful camera and multimedia functionality in a single 7nm chipset. It incorporates a fully-integrated 2G through 5G modem supporting two-carrier 5G NR aggregation with MediaTek UltraSave technology to ensure a balance between super-fast connectivity and long-lasting power efficiency. It integrates four Arm Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.0GHz in an octa-core CPU, alongside an Arm Mali-G57 GPU and MediaTek’s AI Processing Unit 3.0 (APU) for a premium performance whatever the application.
Key features include:
– Intelligent 5G Connectivity: MediaTek’s proprietary 5G UltraSave gives context-aware intelligence so that the modem’s operating mode is matched to the task at hand, improving battery life and ensuring seamless connectivity.
– Powerful Display Optimization: MediaTek MiraVision brings enhanced display technologies such as resolution upscaling, enhanced HDR10+ playback and AI Picture Quality make every screen look and feel premium.
– Triple-A Gaming Performance: MediaTek HyperEngine technology provides a more fluid, responsive and reliable gaming experience with graphics to match, all on 120Hz gamer-ready displays.
– Advanced and Adaptable Camera Support: Flagship-class, HDR-native ISP supports up to quad-camera sensors and up to 64MP sensors.
In 2020, 5G has seen significant growth across Europe with all EU member states and the UK scheduled to have deployed commercial 5G services by end of year . In fact, GSMA predicts that 34% of all mobile connections in Europe will be 5G by 2025. This is being driven by a demand for greater access to ultra-fast network speeds that will support experiences enhanced by 5G such as VR/AR and HD streaming of games and video.
The Dimensity series will continue to power smartphones from MediaTek partners to cover a range of price-points and bring high-quality 5G experiences to a wider audience than ever before. MediaTek technologies are integrated into products across the 5G ecosystem including smartphones, computing, connectivity for routers and other smart devices.
