REDMAGIC Astra 2: Game Longer, Go Further
Serious mobile gaming deserves hardware designed for more than occasional entertainment, and the REDMAGIC Astra 2 brings together flagship processing power, an exceptionally fast OLED display, and advanced cooling in a compact tablet that promises to feel just as at home during a competitive gaming session as it does throughout a busy day. With an ergonomic design and a premium finish, this is a device aimed at players who want room to enjoy their games while keeping their everyday setup portable.
At the heart of the Astra 2 sits the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with REDMAGIC’s RedCore R4 gaming chip and configurations offering up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, creating a compelling foundation for demanding Android games, multitasking, and a growing collection of apps and media. For anyone who regularly switches between gaming, streaming, messaging, and work, that combination makes the tablet an intriguing proposition beyond its gaming identity.
The OLED display is one of its strongest attractions, offering a refresh rate of up to 185Hz that gives supported content the potential to look remarkably fluid, while OLED’s deep blacks and strong contrast help bring both cinematic adventures and late-night movie sessions to life. Actual frame rates will depend on the game, settings, and software support, but the appeal is clear: a screen designed to make fast-moving entertainment feel responsive and visually engaging.
Keeping powerful hardware comfortable under sustained workloads is equally important, which is why REDMAGIC combines AquaCore Cooling 2.0 with Liquid Metal 3.0 and a large vapor chamber. This thermal system is designed to move heat away from key components, addressing a challenge familiar to mobile gamers who enjoy longer sessions and want performance that remains consistent as the action intensifies.
An 8,300mAh battery adds to the Astra 2’s portable appeal, while support for charging at up to 75W offers a convenient way to replenish power between sessions with a compatible charger. Dual USB-C ports provide additional connection flexibility, and the emphasis on rich audio and precise haptic feedback rounds out a gaming experience that extends beyond what appears on the screen.
For European buyers, the official REDMAGIC store currently lists the Eclipse model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage at €699, alongside a 16GB/512GB configuration and Eclipse and Starfrost colour choices. The selected base model is listed for preorder with estimated dispatch within five to six weeks, and a charger is not included, so buyers should check their preferred configuration and delivery details before ordering.
At China Gadgets Reviews, we would love to test the REDMAGIC Astra 2, exploring how its flagship hardware, high-refresh-rate OLED display, and cooling system perform together in everyday use, with particular interest in sustained gaming performance, battery endurance, charging, and handheld comfort. It is an exciting combination on paper, and we would welcome the opportunity to bring our readers a closer look through an unboxing, hands-on coverage, and a detailed product showcase.
