Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet is powered by MediaTek
Available since October 30th, Amazon’s new Fire HD 10 tablet now features the MT8183 inside – an octa-core chip that mixes four powerful Arm Cortex-A73 processors with four power-efficient Cortex-A53 processors all operating up to 2GHz. Throw in a fast GPU for games and a dedicated, dual-core AI processor too and this tablet boasts performance that’s up to 30% faster compared to the last generation Fire HD 10.
With the 15W power adapter option, charging via new USB-C port is now 20% faster. Users also get improved Wi-Fi performance via dual-band, dual antenna Wi-Fi 5 from the MT8183 as well.
The Amazon Fire HD 10 is, as you’d expect from the company that offers a streaming media service, ideal for watching films and TV. It features a high-resolution WUXGA 16:10 display (1920 x 1200) that’s slightly taller than the 16:9 Full HD common elsewhere, and its speakers are tuned for Dolby Atoms. The 32 or 64GB internal storage can be expanded by an additional microSD up to 512GB in size – up from 200GB previously – giving it a generous helping of extra space for on-hand media when you travel.
Beyond the impressive new hardware, Amazon has added new software features like PiP mode that lets you multitask with ease, in addition to its Alexa voice assistant that effectively turns the Fire HD 10 into an handheld Echo device.
You can pick one up in a range of colors that includes a cool looking plum, twilight blue, or classic black and white.
