Flagship Redefined: What Makes XGIMI AURA 3 Series Stand Out
XGIMI is pushing ultra-short-throw projection into genuinely flagship territory with the new AURA 3 Series, a new generation of 4K RGB laser TVs designed to deliver the scale of a dedicated home cinema without demanding a dedicated cinema room. With the AURA 3 Max and AURA 3 Pro, the company combines extreme brightness, native high contrast, 4K 120Hz playback, intelligent image processing and an ultra-short-throw optical system capable of creating a huge 120-inch image from only inches away from the wall.

The star of the family is unquestionably the XGIMI AURA 3 Max. Its RGB Triple Laser light engine reaches an impressive 5,700 ISO lumens, while XGIMI quotes 110% BT.2020 color coverage, giving the projector the kind of brightness and expansive color reproduction needed for a large-screen experience that does not have to disappear when some ambient light enters the room. The slightly more accessible AURA 3 Pro retains the same fundamental RGB Triple Laser architecture while delivering up to 4,100 ISO lumens.
Brightness, however, is only one part of the story. One of the most interesting upgrades in the AURA 3 Series is XGIMI’s Dual Dynamic Iris technology, with the AURA 3 Max rated for up to 8,000:1 native contrast and the AURA 3 Pro reaching 7,000:1. Instead of relying entirely on software manipulation, the dual-iris system controls light optically and can continuously adapt to scene brightness, helping preserve dark-scene detail while producing deeper blacks and brighter highlights. XGIMI also complements this with Dynamic Black Enhancement, which is designed to increase perceived dynamic contrast while maintaining shadow detail and color accuracy.
Motion performance is another area where AURA 3 attempts to separate itself from conventional UST projectors. Both models support 4K 120Hz playback, and XGIMI describes the AURA 3 Max as the world’s first commercially announced UST home projector with this capability, based on publicly available product information as of August 2026. That specification makes the new generation especially interesting not only for movies but also for fast sports and modern gaming, where a giant projection surface becomes far more convincing when motion remains smooth and responsive. The platform also supports features including VRR, ALLM and AMD FreeSync Premium.
At the heart of the picture pipeline is XGIMI’s own X-VISION AI Image Processor, which analyzes and optimizes frames in real time, targeting sharper textures, improved edge definition, dynamic HDR optimization and more natural image depth. Native 24fps playback is also supported, while premium cinema formats include Dolby Vision, HDR10+, IMAX Enhanced and Filmmaker Mode, reinforcing the idea that AURA 3 is intended to operate as a true television replacement rather than simply a very bright projector.
The optical hardware has received serious attention as well. AURA 3 Max uses a 19-element precision UST optical system designed for edge-to-edge clarity, while its ultra-short-throw architecture eliminates the long projection distance and ceiling installation normally associated with traditional home-theater projectors. Put the unit close to the wall, pair it with a suitable screen, and the system can produce an enormous cinematic image while keeping the center of the room completely free.
XGIMI has also designed the AURA 3 Series as an all-in-one entertainment platform. Google TV is integrated directly into the projector, providing access to major streaming services without requiring an external player, while Google Home, Google Cast and voice-control functionality are built into the ecosystem. On the AURA 3 Max, an integrated 80W Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X aims to provide enough scale and presence that buyers can enjoy a complete cinema setup without immediately adding a separate soundbar.
The launch pricing makes the specification package even more interesting. XGIMI currently lists a Super Early Bird price of $2,199 for the AURA 3 Max, compared with a stated $4,999 MSRP, while the AURA 3 Pro is listed at $1,999, compared with a $3,999 MSRP. XGIMI is accepting a refundable $50 reservation deposit ahead of the Kickstarter launch scheduled for October 20, 2026, with shipping currently expected to begin in December; the company notes that timing, perks and regional availability may change.
With 4K 120Hz playback, RGB Triple Laser technology, up to 5,700 ISO lumens, an 8,000:1 native contrast ratio, sophisticated optical light control and a huge 120-inch-class image produced from only inches away, the XGIMI AURA 3 Series looks designed for people who want the visual impact of a projector but the simplicity and everyday usability of a premium television. This is not merely about making the picture larger; XGIMI is trying to make the entire ultra-short-throw experience brighter, faster, smarter and considerably more complete.
