GMKtec EVO-X5 Pro with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 Starts at $6,399
The wait is over. GMKtec has officially launched the new EVO-X5 Pro AMD Ryzen™ AI Max+ PRO 495 AI Mini PC, an exceptionally ambitious compact desktop workstation designed around local artificial intelligence, large language models and professional workloads that traditionally require considerably larger and more expensive computing systems. The global launch is now live, with the Super Early Bird configuration starting at $6,399, while only the first 30 units are available at this introductory price.
A Mini PC Designed Around Local AI
The EVO-X5 Pro is not simply another high-performance Mini PC. GMKtec has positioned this system as a desktop AI computing platform for the emerging era of agentic computing, bringing together the AMD Ryzen™ AI Max+ PRO 495, AMD Radeon™ 8065S graphics, a powerful XDNA™ 2 NPU and an enormous 192GB of unified LPDDR5X memory inside a relatively compact desktop chassis. GMKtec says the platform is designed to run large language models locally and fully offline, including models with up to 300 billion parameters. That enormous memory capacity is particularly important because the EVO-X5 Pro is intended for workloads where conventional Mini PCs quickly reach their memory limits. The 192GB LPDDR5X-8533 unified memory can provide up to 160GB of configurable GPU memory, giving AI developers considerably more room to experiment with large local models without relying exclusively on cloud infrastructure. GMKtec specifies approximately 273GB/s of memory bandwidth for the platform.
AMD Ryzen™ AI Max+ PRO 495 Takes Centre Stage
At the heart of the EVO-X5 Pro is AMD’s Ryzen™ AI Max+ PRO 495, a Zen 5 processor manufactured using a 4nm process and equipped with 16 CPU cores and 32 threads, with a base clock of 3.1GHz and boost speeds reaching up to 5.2GHz. GMKtec specifies configurable power modes ranging from a 54W Silent Mode through an 85W Balanced Mode to a 120W sustained Performance Mode, with peak power reaching 160W. The processor is accompanied by AMD Radeon™ 8065S graphics with 40 Compute Units, running at up to 3GHz, while the integrated AMD XDNA™ 2 NPU delivers up to 55 TOPS of AI performance. This combination allows the EVO-X5 Pro to combine conventional CPU workloads, GPU acceleration and dedicated AI processing within the same compact system. GMKtec has clearly designed this machine for users who want to experiment with local AI inference, AI-assisted development, private knowledge bases, agentic workflows and professional applications where keeping data locally processed can be particularly important.
192GB RAM and Up to 24TB of Storage
One of the most remarkable aspects of the EVO-X5 Pro is its memory configuration. The system comes with 192GB of onboard LPDDR5X-8533 memory, arranged as 8 × 24GB, and the memory is not upgradeable. This is not conventional Mini PC territory, where 16GB or 32GB configurations are common; GMKtec has instead built the EVO-X5 Pro around workloads that can genuinely consume huge amounts of memory. Storage is equally ambitious. The available configurations include 2TB and 4TB NVMe SSD options, while the chassis provides three M.2 2280 slots, allowing total internal storage to reach 24TB, using up to three 8TB drives. The first two slots support PCIe 4.0 ×4, while the third supports PCIe 4.0 ×1. For AI developers working with large model files, datasets, local vector databases, development environments and multiple operating environments, this combination of 192GB unified memory and potentially 24TB of storage makes the EVO-X5 Pro fundamentally different from the typical compact PC.
Enterprise-Grade Remote Management
Another particularly interesting feature is the EVO-X5 Pro’s management infrastructure. GMKtec has equipped the system with AMD DASH Out-of-Band remote management, a dedicated DASH-enabled RJ45 port, a discrete TPM 2.0 security chip and a fingerprint reader with Matching-on-Chip technology. The Out-of-Band management capability is especially relevant for professional deployments because remote operations can remain available independently of the host operating system, meaning management capabilities can be maintained even when the operating system has crashed, Windows has encountered a blue screen or the host PC itself is shut down. This gives the EVO-X5 Pro a very different character from a consumer-oriented Mini PC. It can be considered as a compact workstation that can also fit into professional environments where remote administration, security and centralized management matter.
Connectivity for Serious Workstations
The connectivity package is equally impressive. The EVO-X5 Pro features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and two 10GbE RJ45 Ethernet ports, with one of the Ethernet ports supporting AMD DASH functionality. On the front, users get two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and two USB4 ports supporting 40Gbps connectivity, while the rear panel adds two USB4 v2 ports capable of up to 80Gbps, alongside two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI 2.1 and the dual 10GbE Ethernet interfaces. GMKtec also specifies support for up to four simultaneous 8K displays through the system’s video-capable outputs. The USB4 implementation also opens the door to high-speed external storage, professional peripherals and eGPU-related expansion, making the machine considerably more flexible than its physical dimensions might suggest.
Compact Hardware with a Serious Cooling System
Despite its computing ambitions, the EVO-X5 Pro remains a compact desktop system measuring approximately 221 × 80 × 195mm and weighing around 2.5kg. GMKtec uses a vapor-chamber cooling system combined with two 8030 fans and one 8015 system fan to manage the thermal output of the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495. The three selectable operating modes also allow users to choose between quieter operation, balanced performance and maximum sustained performance depending on the workload. The chassis can be positioned either vertically or horizontally, providing some flexibility when integrating the machine into a workstation or server environment.
The Super Early Bird Offer Is Now Live
The EVO-X5 Pro has officially gone on sale, and the current Super Early Bird price is $6,399 for the 192GB + 2TB configuration, reduced from the listed regular price of $6,799. GMKtec states that this introductory price is limited to the first 30 units, after which the price increases. The launch promotion also includes a Z.AI GLM-5.3 Coding Plan and 1.5× bonus points. The 192GB + 4TB version is also available, with the promotional launch pricing presented by GMKtec at $6,699. After the first 30 Super Early Bird units are sold, GMKtec’s launch information indicates that the following seven-day Early Bird pricing will be higher. For buyers interested in this type of hardware, it is worth noting that this is a very different proposition from a conventional Mini PC costing a few hundred dollars. The EVO-X5 Pro is being positioned as a compact AI workstation, and its enormous unified-memory configuration, local 300B-parameter AI capability, 10GbE networking, DASH remote management and professional security features are the core of its value proposition.

At China Gadgets Reviews, we have followed the rapid evolution of AMD-based Mini PCs and AI computing platforms closely, and the EVO-X5 Pro is exactly the kind of machine that deserves extensive real-world testing rather than simply being evaluated from a specification sheet. We would love to test the GMKtec EVO-X5 Pro at CGR. A system with the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495, 192GB of unified memory, Radeon 8065S graphics and support for enormous local AI models opens up a particularly interesting testing platform for us. We would like to explore its CPU and GPU performance, sustained performance under long workloads, thermal behaviour, fan acoustics, storage performance, 10GbE networking, USB4 connectivity and multi-display capabilities, while also examining what the 192GB unified memory configuration really means for local AI inference.
Most importantly, we would like to test the machine with real-world local AI workloads and see how practical the advertised large-model capability becomes outside a controlled demonstration environment. Testing local LLMs, AI development workflows, image generation, coding workloads, virtualization, demanding productivity applications and high-speed storage would make for a particularly interesting CGR review.
