Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 Unveiled
Xiaomi held the 2024 Lei Jun Annual Speech at the ShouGang Stadium, officially launching the new Xiaomi MIX lineup. Xiaomi has achieved further innovation in foldable phones, thanks to comprehensive technology covering materials, structure, and network functionality. Both products set new industry standards, with Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 offering core innovations in overall architecture, hinge, and battery. Additionally, it has been designed exceptionally thin without compromising strength or configuration. Also launched, Xiaomi MIX Flip excels in performance, battery, and network functionality, meeting standards of non-foldable phones and breaking the stereotype of flip phones offering reduced overall capabilities. With its sizable external display and innovative interactivity, most daily operations can be performed smoothly on the external display without opening the device.

As a leader in lightweight foldable smartphones, Xiaomi has integrated years of accumulated experience into developing Xiaomi MIX Fold 4. This incredible device has made significant breakthroughs, defying the common assumption that foldable smartphones are heavy or inconvenient.
Three Key Technologies, Lightweight Design
The new generation of Xiaomi’s proprietary hinge has achieved remarkable weight reduction and compact breakthroughs. Using high-strength materials paired with a wear-resistant carbon ceramic steel transmission mechanism has improved hinge reliability. Overall thickness and weight have been significantly reduced, with the total hinge volume reduced by 34%². The new design has an unfolded thickness of just 4.59mm¹ and a folded thickness of 9.47mm¹. This design breakthrough provides users with an unprecedented, lightweight experience.
For the first time, Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 fully adopts “all-carbon architecture”. The hinge floating plate, display backing plate, and middle plate battery compartment are all precision-molded from T800H carbon fiber material. This significantly enhances overall strength and durability and considerably reduces weight. Carbon fiber’s excellent tensile performance and reliability provide users with a safer and more lightweight experience, showcasing Xiaomi’s innovative capabilities in optimizing material technology.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 has achieved several technological breakthroughs in manufacturing processes. The innovative three-layer, five-surface motherboard design combined with large-area tin spraying technology achieves high-precision soldering, significantly improving circuit stability and reliability. Additionally for the first time, application of three-dimensional shaped battery technology and three-dimensional stacking process utilizes irregular space in the motherboard COP packaging area, increasing battery capacity by 260mAh to 5100mAh. These precise manufacturing processes advance manufacturing technology and provide users with longer-lasting battery life experience.
Exceptional performance, long-lasting battery, strong network functionality, and overall excellence
Featuring the latest Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform and innovative 3D cooling system, the large-area cooling system measures 11,912 square millimeters¹. It uses advanced vapor chamber technology to quickly dissipate heat, which is then evenly distributed through multiple layers of graphite, effectively preventing heat buildup. The robust performance combined with excellent cooling ensures sustainable performance even under high load.
In terms of battery, the 5,100mAh high-capacity battery features new-generation silicon-carbon anode technology, enhancing energy density. The self-developed Xiaomi Surge battery management system controls charging and discharging processes, effectively extending battery life, while 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging balance fast charging with battery health. The new generation E7 luminous material and Pol-less Plus technology offer low-power consumption by the display, helping users ease battery anxiety.
In terms of network functionality, Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 is equipped with powerful antenna architecture, including four industry-leading low-frequency receiving antennas and four Xiaomi Surge T1 signal enhancement chips. This is deeply integrated with the Xiaomi HyperOS network subsystem to ensure smooth communication in various holding positions and usage environments. Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 also supports two-way satellite communication, providing connectivity even in remote areas without cellular signal coverage. It fully supports mainstream global communication bands and includes a “Travel Assistant” feature to provide convenience for frequent travelers.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 comes with two top-tier flagship displays. The inner display features a 7.98-inch Samsung E7 LTPO panel with a resolution of 2488×2244, supporting a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and HDR10+ for unparalleled visual effects. The outer display is a 6.56-inch C8+ panel with a resolution of 2520×1080, which also supports a 120Hz high refresh rate and a P3 color gamut display. The inner display uses advanced Pol-less Plus technology, significantly reducing power consumption while enhancing brightness and color performance, ensuring the best visual experience possible in unfolded and folded states.
Both Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 displays support Dolby Vision® technology, providing users an extreme HDR experience. Dolby Vision® enhances brightness and contrast, bringing more color layers and details, making each frame vivid. Users can enjoy cinema-grade visuals, whether watching movies or even video calls.
Quad camera system with Leica Optical Lens and Master Portraits
Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 features a Leica optical quad-camera system covering all focal lengths. Despite the device being thinner and lighter, its imaging capabilities have been significantly enhanced. The main camera uses a new 50MP Light Fusion 800 high dynamic range sensor, introducing “Dual Native ISO Fusion Max” technology for the first time in Xiaomi’s foldable products. This technology provides more accurate color reproduction and better detail retention in high-contrast scenes. The 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens offers a 120° field of view, while the 50MP Leica floating telephoto lens delivers excellent portrait effects and macro photography capabilities. The 115mm Leica ultra-telephoto lens, with a periscope structure, also supports close-up shooting. These four lenses work perfectly, achieving seamless coverage across all focal lengths.
The innovative Xiaomi AISP, powered by Snapdragon 8® Gen 3’s processing power and the Xiaomi HyperOS AI, with up to 60TOPS AI processing speeds, supports complex imaging scenarios. The new “Master Portrait” combines the power of PortraitLM and aesthetics learned from real-life photographers, offering a look “a little more ideal than reality,” enhancing portrait beauty without deviating from reality.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 adheres to Leica’s natural color science and classic tones, avoiding excessive sharpening and algorithms. Two Leica photographic styles with customizable features meet professional creative needs. The unique foldable form brings new shooting possibilities: hands-free hover selfies and external display framing when unfolded, transforming the flagship foldable phone into a portable professional imaging studio. This showcases Xiaomi’s deep integration of foldable display and imaging technology.
Regarding smart experience, Xiaomi HyperOS is deeply optimized for large-display scenarios and adds multiple AI functions. Innovations such as the AI conference assistant, multimodal capabilities, and AI integration in system applications comprehensively enhance user productivity and operational convenience.
Reliability has been further improved with Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 using Xiaomi’s composite fiber, providing sturdiness like never before. The mid-frame uses 6M42 aluminum alloy, significantly increasing strength; the outer display is equipped with Xiaomi Shield Glass, and the inner display uses UTG ultra-thin flexible glass, providing all-around display protection. The hinge is upgraded with 1800MPa ultra-strong steel, accounting for 82.6% of the hinge, with an opening and closing lifespan of 500,000 times², and has received SGS reliable folding certification. Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 also introduces the new Xiaomi Guardian Structure, woven with S2 premium glass fiber on a base of aramid fiber and ceramic fiber, offering excellent abrasion resistance, overall strength increased by 15%² compared to the previous generation, featuring a sturdy, wear resistance, and a pleasant hand feel.
