Essential Hot Weather Drone Flying Safety Tips from Ruko
The scorching heat of summer cannot stop the enthusiasm of drone enthusiasts to fly, but as the temperature gradually rises, when flying drones in hot weather, special attention should be paid to equipment safety, flight environment selection, flight operation adjustment, and heatstroke prevention for operators. This article will give you specific preventive measures.
1. Drone Equipment Protection
A. Battery Management: Before flying, check the storage temperature of the battery. It should be below 35 degrees. If it exceeds 40 degrees, it may swell or catch fire. Avoid high-temperature exposure. At the same time, you should also control the flight time. At high temperatures, the battery discharges faster and the battery life is shortened by 20%~30%. Plan the return power in advance (it is recommended to return with 30% power).
B. Heat Dissipation of Equipment: Avoid continuous flight of the drone. After each battery flight, let the drone sit for 5 to 10 minutes to dissipate heat.
2. Flight Environment Selection
A. Flight Time and Weather: The best time to fly is in the early morning or evening, when the temperature is lower and the light is suitable for shooting. When the temperature is above 40 degrees, be alert to hot weather and it is recommended to suspend flying.
B. Flying Field: Avoid taking off and landing on hot surfaces such as asphalt roads and concrete floors (which may burn the battery or trigger sensor failures). Choose grass or flat areas with shadows.
3. Flight Operation Adjustments
Avoid aggressive actions, such as rapid acceleration or climbing, which will increase the heating of the motor and battery. Also shorten a single flight. In a high temperature environment, it is recommended that a single flight be ≤15 minutes.
4. Heatstroke Prevention for Operators
The operator should wear sun visors and a sun hat, wear sun-proof clothing and carry electrolyte drinks. Try to avoid high-temperature flight environments. You can choose to carry a portable fan/cooling patch to assist in heat dissipation.
Summary:
In hot weather, be prepared for heatstroke and give priority to the safety of operators. If the ambient temperature exceeds the limit marked in the drone manual (usually 104°F), it is recommended to suspend flight. Rest assured that the exceptional 7/24 Ruko customer service is always with you to guarantee your smooth and wonderful flight experience with Ruko drones.
