Xiaomi Watch 5 Series: Dual Sapphire Design Meets Advanced Gesture Control
Xiaomi officially unveiled Xiaomi 17 Ultra on its new product launch event held in Beijing, alongside wearable offerings such as Xiaomi Watch 5 Series and Xiaomi Buds 6. The launch event also introduced a series of smart home appliances such as Xiaomi Smart Home Screen 11, Mijia Diffused Ceiling Light, and Mijia Central Air Conditioner Dual Fan Pro. At the launch event, Xiaomi also announced the upgrade of the Global Imaging Strategic Cooperation between Xiaomi and Leica. Building upon the highly productive “Joint R&D” foundation, the two parties are introducing a new “Strategic Co-creation Model”, with Xiaomi 17 Ultra being the first product born from this new collaborative framework. The “Strategic Co-creation Model” is the result of a close and multi-level collaboration, aiming to break conventional thinking and application limitations in mobile imaging by engaging in deep co-creation from the product’s inception. This approach integrates Leica’s century-old expertise in professional optics, aesthetic philosophy, and interaction principles from camera manufacturing to thoroughly reinvent the mobile imaging experience.

Aside from Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Xiaomi also unveiled Xiaomi Watch 5 Series at the launch event, introducing a new flagship smartwatch with significant upgrades in design, health and fitness management, and smart performance. Featuring a 47mm case, Xiaomi Watch 5 is protected by sapphire glasses on both the front and back, paired with a unibody 316L stainless steel frame for a premium yet durable finish. It is equipped with a 1.54-inch AMOLED ultra-large display offering a 78.28% screen-to-body ratio and up to 1,500 nits peak brightness, ensuring excellent readability in bright outdoor conditions. Along with the debut of Xiaomi Watch 5 Series also comes a 3D-printed titanium strap with a weight of just 43g, which is about 50% lighter than that of traditional stainless steel.
Under the hood, Xiaomi Watch 5 Series features a rare dual-chip architecture, combining a 4nm Snapdragon® W5 platform with a 6nm BES2800 low-power chip to balance performance and energy efficiency. Powered by a 930mAh battery, the watch delivers up to 6 days in Performance Mode or 18 days in Power Saving Mode. Another key highlight is the newly introduced EMG sensor, working alongside PPG and inertial acceleration sensors to enable Xiaomi’s most precise gesture control to date, supporting seven gestures and cross-device interactions. Health and fitness capabilities include ECG analysis, 150+ sports modes, 3D animated workout guidance, and round-the-clock health monitoring.
Xiaomi Watch 5 starts at RMB 1999 yuan, while Xiaomi Watch 5 eSIM is priced at RMB 2299 yuan.
