Meet MINISFORUM N5 AIR AI NAS N5. Less Cost. Lighter Build.
With the N5 AIR AI NAS, MINISFORUM delivers a compelling alternative to traditional heavyweight NAS systems—retaining the performance and expandability of the original N5 while dramatically reducing cost, size, and weight. The result is a modern, efficient, and highly versatile AI-ready NAS designed for creators, power users, and small offices that demand serious capability without unnecessary bulk.
Full N5-Class Performance, Refined
At the heart of the N5 AIR sits the AMD Ryzen™ 7 255, an 8-core processor built to handle intensive multitasking, container workloads, virtualization, and AI-assisted services with ease. This is not an entry-level NAS CPU—it is a multi-core platform capable of sustaining high throughput under continuous load, making it ideal for media servers, private cloud deployments, and collaborative storage environments. Despite its lighter positioning, performance remains uncompromised. The N5 AIR is engineered to deliver the same responsive, stable experience expected from a premium NAS platform.
Massive Storage Potential in a Lighter Chassis
Storage flexibility is where the N5 AIR truly stands out:
5× HDD bays for large-capacity bulk storage
3× M.2 / U.2 SSD slots for high-speed caching or all-flash configurations
Support for up to 144TB total capacity
This hybrid design allows users to build tiered storage systems that balance speed, capacity, and cost—perfect for video archives, photo libraries, backups, and AI datasets. All of this is housed in a redesigned chassis using lighter composite materials, bringing total system weight down to just 4 kg—approximately 20% lighter than the original N5.
Enterprise-Grade Connectivity, Built In
The N5 AIR is clearly designed for high-bandwidth environments:
10GbE + 5GbE LAN for fast local transfers and multi-user access
PCIe x16 slot for expansion cards (networking, accelerators, storage controllers)
OCuLink compatibility for external high-speed storage or GPU expansion
Whether you are running multiple 4K streams, backing up several workstations, or experimenting with AI inference at the edge, the N5 AIR offers the connectivity to scale with your workflow.
MinisCloud OS: Ready Out of the Box
Pre-installed MinisCloud OS transforms the N5 AIR into a turnkey private cloud solution. The interface is clean, fast, and designed for real-world usage scenarios—work, home, and shared environments.
Key advantages include:
One-click Docker installation, dramatically simplifying container deployment
Support for media servers, backup services, file synchronization, and AI tools
Low learning curve for beginners, with enough depth for advanced users
This makes the N5 AIR an excellent choice for users who want flexibility without spending days configuring their system.
Designed for Efficiency and Sustainability
By switching to lighter composite materials and optimizing the internal layout, MINISFORUM has created a NAS that is:
Easier to transport and deploy
More energy-efficient
Better suited for home offices and compact workspaces
It is a practical evolution of the N5 concept—focused on real-world usability rather than unnecessary mass.
Why the N5 AIR Makes Sense
The MINISFORUM N5 AIR AI NAS targets users who want:
High-end NAS performance without enterprise pricing
Serious storage expansion in a compact, lighter system
Fast networking and future-proof expansion options
A ready-to-use OS with strong Docker and cloud capabilities
In short, it delivers N5-class power in a more accessible, streamlined package.
Final Verdict
The N5 AIR AI NAS is not a compromise—it is a refinement. By keeping what matters most (performance, storage flexibility, connectivity) and trimming excess weight and cost, MINISFORUM has created one of the most attractive NAS platforms in its class. For creators, professionals, and advanced home users looking to build a powerful private cloud with room to grow, the N5 AIR is a smart, future-ready investment.
