SmallRig FL-65 Quick Setup Foldable Lantern Softbox

Unlike conventional softboxes that require multiple assembly steps, the FL-65 features an integrated quick-release mechanism that opens almost instantly. Simply mount it to your Bowens-compatible light, lock it into position, and you’re ready to shoot. Whether you’re filming interviews, recording YouTube videos, producing commercial content, or photographing portraits, the simplified setup allows creators to spend less time building lighting and more time creating.

The lantern-style diffuser produces a soft, natural 360-degree glow that evenly fills an entire room with smooth illumination. This wraparound lighting minimizes harsh shadows and visible hotspots, making it an excellent choice for podcasts, livestreams, behind-the-scenes productions, documentary work, weddings, and collaborative studio environments. When additional control is needed, the included light-control skirt helps reduce spill and shape the output for a more cinematic look.

One of the FL-65’s biggest innovations is portability. SmallRig engineered the folding structure so the softbox collapses to roughly one-third the size of a traditional lantern softbox, making it significantly easier to pack into camera bags and travel cases. For creators who frequently work on location or move between multiple shooting environments in a single day, the compact footprint can dramatically simplify transportation without sacrificing lighting performance.

Compatibility is equally impressive. The FL-65 uses the industry-standard Bowens mount, allowing it to work with a huge range of LED continuous lights from SmallRig and many other manufacturers. This universal mounting system makes it an easy addition to existing lighting kits without requiring proprietary adapters or specialized accessories.

The diffusion material is designed to deliver exceptionally even illumination across the entire surface, producing soft, flattering light that enhances skin tones while reducing harsh contrast. Combined with the lantern’s omnidirectional design, it creates an ambient lighting solution that’s ideal for group scenes, overhead lighting, room illumination, and any production where consistent coverage is more important than directional light.

The SmallRig FL-65 Quick Setup Foldable Lantern Softbox is clearly aimed at today’s fast-moving creators. Instead of spending valuable production time assembling complicated modifiers, users can deploy professional-quality soft lighting within seconds, pack everything away just as quickly, and move effortlessly to the next location. For videographers, photographers, livestreamers, and content creators who value efficiency as much as image quality, the FL-65 offers a practical solution that makes professional lighting faster, more portable, and considerably easier to manage.

For creators looking to streamline their workflow without compromising lighting quality, the SmallRig FL-65 Quick Setup Foldable Lantern Softbox is a compelling new addition to any production kit, combining rapid setup, compact portability, universal Bowens compatibility, and beautifully soft 360-degree illumination in one highly versatile lighting modifier
