Benchmark affirmed: Helio P90 leads in AI performance!
Leading the ETHZ benchmark rankings with a score of 25,645, the MediaTek Helio P90 platform is the fastest at AI processing in any smartphone!
The ETHZ benchmark suite comprehensively tests AI performance across a number of tasks including, Object Recognition / Classification, Face Recognition, Image Deblurring, Image Super-Resolution, Semantic Image Segmentation, Photo Enhancement and more.
Why is this important?
AI performance has become extremely important in a number of smartphone areas including photography and video capture, video streaming, AR and other visual processing applications, users assistants, and much more. Processing AI tasks at the edge (in the phone SoC itself) is preferred because it can actively work in conjunction with the all the sensors in your smartphone. This means the response is faster, more secure, more private and it requires significantly less/any network data, depending on the application. Edge-AI can be enhanced by Cloud services to provide additional intelligence and data, giving smartphone makers and app developers flexibility.
How is the MediaTek Helio P90 better?
Creating an ultra-high performance smartphone SoC is a challenge. It needs processor design acumen (within the APU 2.0, one of the AI processors is of MediaTek’s own designed), the system must keep within strict thermal, power and memory bandwidth constraints, yet it must be flexible and powerful enough to meet the demands of increasingly sophisticated applications and potential usage models not yet even conceived. Here, the Helio P90 leads through its design: it uses a deeply heterogeneous system (CPU, GPU, APU) that’s, flexible, programmable to meet a wide range of product design and application needs, and it operates at an extremely high efficiency thanks to its NeuroPilot software ecosystem enabling apps to be closer-to-metal.
If you’re excited to get your hands on a Helio P90 device, look out for the first wave of 2019 smartphones in the next few months.
