The SMSL M400 features a flagship-level DAC chipset using high performance AK4499 DAC chipset with a powerful USB receiver chip from XMOS. Flagship Chipset with Full MQA Decoding
The SMSL M400 is equipped with a flagship DAC from Asahi Kasei, the AK4499 paired with dual independent crystal oscillators from Accusilicon and second-generation 16-core XMOS XU216 USB receiver. SMSL M400 can decode PCM up to 32-Bit/768kHz and DSD up to DSD512 natively. It supports full MQA decoding providing the users with an unmatched sound quality experience. It has an ultra-low distortion rating of 0.000058%(-124dB), a high dynamic range, and signal to noise ratio of 131dB. The DAC provides a complete noise and distortion-free sound output with crisp popping details on a dark black background.
Versatility with Multiple Input/Output Options
SMSL M400 features multiple input options including USB, Optical, Coaxial, IIS, and Bluetooth. Users can provide audio signal input to the M400 using the latest IIS connectivity that uses an HDMI port and provides a very clean input to the DAC chip. It also features powerful Bluetooth V5.0 connectivity with Hi-Res Bluetooth codecs including UAT, LDAC, and much more. UAT is the latest Bluetooth technology that is developed by HiBy and supports files up to 24-Bit/192kHz bitrate ensuring the best of the sound quality to its users.
The device features two output types, one XLR fully balanced output and one RCA unbalanced output. Users can use the M400 as a preamp and provide output to amplifier systems or give output from it directly to your speaker and headphone systems using any of the output ports. Preamp mode can be selected with either variable volume or fixed volume modes.
Multiple Digital Filters Supported
SMSL M400 supports multiple digital filters. The device features six PCM filters including Slow Roll-off, Sharp Roll-off, Short Sharp Roll-off, Short Slow Roll-off, and more. It also features two DSD filters, Narrow, and Wide.
LCD Color Display and Fully Operational Remote Control
SMSL M400 features an LCD color display on the front that shows basic information like active input type, active bit-rate, and output volume levels. The device is fully operational using the remote control included in the package.
