Numerous modern apps, software, and online resources can provide you with effective help with essay format and various other benefits. One of them is Google Docs, which is a brilliant way to edit, view, and format your documents with plenty of features.
1. Use offline mode
Google provides an excellent ability to modify and update your documents from everywhere and anytime you need. All you require to work with Google documents without an Internet connection is to enable offline use in your web browser. For example, with Google Chrome, you need to click on the Settings button. After that, you choose an option that synchronizes your documents to your PC and gives you the ability to edit them when you are offline. This Google Docs feature is perfect when your Internet connection is unstable. It is also perfect when you use mobile Internet and do not want to pay a fortune for traffic, especially when your docs contain large images. The changes you make offline will be synchronized with Google once your PC is connected to the Internet.
2. Enable clear formatting
Another excellent Google Docs feature allows to copy and paste text from one document to another in a consistent format. Highlight the text and choose the option that enables clear formatting. It is suitable when compiling several different sources into one document. This feature will work perfectly for research papers, reviews, and other papers that require pasting text and editing simultaneously without additional comments.
3. Use your voice instead of typing
This is a brilliant feature for those who are not a big fan of typing. This Google Docs feature will be perfect for people who are always in a hurry or cannot type text with their hands. Since voice messages are becoming more and more popular, many people use them to communicate, and typing does not suit them anymore. The feature is easy to activate by choosing Voice Typing in the toolbar on your document editing page. But note that this same Google Docs feature is available only within the Chrome web browser.
4. Use the history of revisions
If the document is large and updated and has comments by a working group, it is vital to track changes. Google Docs enables such an option in the Revision History. This feature is also working if you delete some parts of your documents by mistake. Do not worry. If you lost all your work, just follow the next algorithm: to return to a Google Doc previous version, go to File and choose an option to see the revision history. After you click on it on the right, you will see a panel containing earlier versions of your document. The versions will be seen as a chronology with time stamps. If you want to return to one of the previous versions, you click Restore.
5. Use tags in comments
This feature will work when you edit Google Docs in a team. You have an option to highlight some parts in the text that relate to a particular team member’s responsibility. To draw their attention to a text’s section, you can tag a person in your comment. To do it, use the “@” symbol and type the person’s name. The update will automatically be sent on the email of a person you tag.
Hopefully, these Google Docs features were interesting to you and will make your document editing.
