The globalized popularization of the smartphone has not only brought great opportunity but also largely increased the challenge for the smartphone producers, especially in the entry-level smartphone field. It is those able to provide really cost-effective goods with a very budget price that might stand out. It seems that AllCall is among of them, and its new arrival AllCall S1 might be one of the most representative budget phones in AllCall phone lineage.

Package
The package of AllCall S1 is the typical AllCall style, simple and generous, very similar to Iphone package. In the back of the box, we have some details about AllCall S1 specifications.
Appearance and design
Thankfully the AllCall S1 has not followed the mainstream of notch screen. It is the typical 18:9 5.5’’ screen with a protective film on it already. The more than 80% screen-to-body ratio of this device is one point that deserves applause, for it is larger than most of the other phones in the same price range. Above the screen lies dual selfie cameras and a receiver. The whole front side looks very glossy and sleek. Moving to the back side, AllCall chooses the matte housing that really makes the device stands out against the competition on this segment. The AllCall logo was marked on the bottom and dual rear cameras are vertically aligned on the top along with a LED Flash.
All around the phone, there are double CNC mental trimming, shines the metallic luster, like below. The only button lies in the right side of the phone, including the traditional power button and volume button. AllCall S1 differs from others for placing the USB C port and the headphone port at the top, which I think is one more point to score. Because it is more convenient to play on charging, especially on playing games. The topside USB cable won’t obstacle the smooth operation of the dominant hand of the most people. Anyway, different people have different habits. I can’t say it suits for all. On the bottom, we can find the speaker grill and microphone.
Hardware
AllCall S1 is powered by the MTK quad-core processor, which is widely used in the entry-level smartphones. The phone runs well on daily usage and enough for some small games. But if you want to install some big games, this phone might not be able to function very fluently. The memory of this device turns out to be 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM, actually larger than that of the other smartphones more than 70$. And you can insert a Micro SD card to extend the internal storage to 128G if it is in need.
Battery
The strongest selling point of this phone might lie in the battery. The AllCall S1 packs the detachable 5000mAh large battery. The capacity is enough for more than 2 days of daily usage, which is quite surprising. Even if you are a heavy user, this long duration phone can also ensure the usage of nearly one day, partly due to the low-end processor and revolution. But the large capacity battery is the main reason. Through two days of medium usage including web-browsing, Telegram,Wechat and music, I was able to achieve 13 hours of screen usage with 9% of battery left. For the heavy users, the battery life might be shorten to 9.5 to 10 hours of screen usage. One more detail that worth the praise is the stainless steel cover surrounded on the detachable battery to prevent it from damage which might result in some safety risks.
Screen
The screen toughness is also one point worth a thumb-up. Although it is not made up of the well-known Corning Gorilla Glass, the dual glass coating screen performs no worse at all, even stronger. As we can see in the AllCall official video, the phone remains undamaged on knife-scratching, firing, car-crushing, hammer-smashing. It might be the bliss for those often breaking the phone screen.
Camera
The quad-camera packed on AllCall S1 is one more thing worth writing. The dual rear cameras are comprised with a 8.0MP snapper (interpolated to 13.0MP) and a 2.0MP assistant shooter while the dual front camera are composed of a 2.0MP snapper(interpolated to 5.0MP) and a 2.0MP assistant shooter. As the other phones, it has the Photo, Video, Panorama, Beauty, and Bokeh Mode, pretty simple to use. The beauty mode might be useful on selfie to better the skin. But the Bokeh is just a blur effect towards a circle that you can adjust. The rear camera can take up to 13MP pictures and record 1080p video footages, with EIS mode to reduce the shooter delay, exposure and white balance control .
I took some pictures with S1 both in the day and night. It seems that the camera performs well in the bright day, even better than Iphone 6s. As you can see in the below pictures, the pictures shot by S1 is brighter and higher contrast.
I just can’t stop shoot with this phone. As you can see in the following pictures, with bright light, AllCall S1 is just a photograph master. But at night, the picture seems to have some noise, but the performance is better than most of the other phones in the same segment.
Software
One of the most amazing features of this smartphone is that it is running the Android 8.1 Oreo, while some other smartphone makers are still boasting their phones with the old Android 7.1. The interface of this device is very pure without any fancy menu. If you enjoy the Android smartphone, you’ll love this handset immediately. Besides, since AllCall S1 is powered by Android 8.1 Oreo, you can download any of the App from the Google Play Store without worrying its compatibility. Right on the top of the About Phone Menu, we can see the wireless updating option, there we can find if AllCall has provided any update for the smartphone.
Conclusion
AllCall S1 is very outstanding on the battery life, screen toughness, software, and also performs good in camera, memory and core processor. If you’re looking for durable, tough, budget phone, AllCall S1 is definitely a very good choice. You can now buy AllCall S1 from Gearbest.com for a very good price.
