GPD Pocket 3 is a modular handheld computer with the 1125G4 processor

GPD Pocket 3 is the longest-lasting product in the Pocket series, thanks to its port modular design and compact body, which allow for the expansion of more ports. In addition to the standard USB A module, it also offers an RS-232 module and a KVM module. It supports a 4096-level pressure-sensitive stylus and the Microsoft MPP protocol.

The Pocket 3 was released in two versions: a high-end version with an Intel 11th Gen Core i7-1195G7, 16GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD, and a low-end version with an Intel 10th Gen Pentium Silver N6000, 8GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The Core i7-1195G7 features 4 cores and 8 threads, utilizes Xe graphics, supports Thunderbolt 4, and PCIe Gen 4, which doubles SSD speeds. It also supports AVX2 and AVX-512 instruction sets and is compatible with the GPD G1 mobile graphics dock. In contrast, the Pentium Silver N6000 is a 4-core, 4-thread processor with UHD graphics, does not support hyper-threading, Thunderbolt 4, or PCIe Gen 4, resulting in half the SSD speed. It also lacks support for AVX2 and AVX-512 instruction sets.

Considering that the i7-1195G7 did not have a price advantage and the N6000 had speed disadvantages, both versions were discontinued in July last year. The Pocket 3 was updated to feature the Intel 11th Gen Pentium Gold 7505 processor, which serves as a compromise solution. The Pentium Gold 7505 has only 2 cores and 4 threads, utilizes UHD graphics, supports the AVX2 instruction set, and Thunderbolt 4, as well as the GPD G1 mobile graphics dock. The memory was upgraded to 16GB, but it only supports PCIe Gen 3, with no improvement in SSD speed.

The Pocket 3 has been updated again to feature the Intel 11th Gen Core i3-1125G4 processor. The Pentium Gold 7505 version is no longer in production. Although both the i3-1125G4 and i7-1195G7 belong to the 11th Gen Core series, there are some differences between them. The i3-1125G4 has 4 cores and 8 threads, with a maximum boost frequency of 3.7GHz and a base frequency of 3.3GHz. It uses the same UHD graphics as the Pentium Gold 7505, featuring 48 execution units and 384 shaders, with a TDP of 12-28W. It supports Thunderbolt 4 and the GPD G1 mobile graphics dock, as well as PCIe Gen 4, which doubles SSD speeds. It supports AVX2 and AVX-512 instruction sets and has a retail price of 3999 yuan.

Below is a comparison table of the configurations and prices of all generations of the Pocket 3 updates:

The new Pocket 3 (1125G4) comes with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, with a retail price of 3999 yuan, which is equivalent to the price of the low-end N6000 version of the Pocket 4.

Here is a comparison table of the specifications for the four processors:

Here are the single-core and multi-core performance results of the four processors from the Geekbench 6 tests:

Here’s a summary of the new Pocket 3:

1. Intel Core i3-1125G4 and Intel Core i7-1195G7 are both part of the Core series.
2. Intel UHD Graphics for 11th Gen integrated graphics is consistent with Intel Pentium Gold 7505.
3. Supports Thunderbolt 4 and GPD G1 mobile graphics expansion dock.
4. Memory is 16GB LPDDR4x 3733, remaining unchanged (actual is LPDDR4x 4266, which can be manually adjusted in the BIOS, but the processor supports up to LPDDR4x 3733).
5. SSD capacity is 512GB, with the processor supporting PCIe Gen 4. The SSD read/write speed of the new Pocket 3 will be twice as fast compared to the previous generation.

7. Expected to launch around April 18-22.

So, how does the Pocket 3 (1125G4) perform for gaming?
Taking the Panasonic Let’S Note Sv1 as an example, the performance of running Monster Hunter: Rise with the external GPD G1 graphics dock is quite impressive!
Video demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iup3GRJ4e7s
Configuration of the Panasonic Let’S Note Sv1:
Processor: Intel Core i5 1145G7
Memory: 16GB
Storage: 256GB SSD

The Panasonic business laptop uses the i5-1145G7, which is based on Xe integrated graphics with 80EU/640CU. However, the game demonstration is achieved through the external G1 graphics dock, making the integrated graphics irrelevant. Of course, if you are only playing older games, the UHD integrated graphics are perfectly adequate; the UHD graphics of the WIN 2 feature just 24EU/192CU. However, this product is primarily aimed at engineers for debugging devices and servers. For NAS users or soft router users, the Intel integrated graphics offer powerful encoding and decoding capabilities, making it a solid choice!
