Display and design
Measuring just 7.17 x 4.33 x 0.67 inches, the One Mix manages to pack in a nice 7 inch display with 1920 x 1200 resolution capable of impressive color and clarity and a wide range of viewing angles thanks to the use of IPS technology. Another feature of note about the display is that it comes with pen support — and you simply have to check out One Mix’s dedicated pen capable of 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity.
Because of the laptop’s miniature size, it does not pack a touchpad and the keyboard on the One Mix is very much on the compact side — even with that, it’s quite manageable in use. Yet another nice addition is the HDMI output further extending your viewing capabilities — you get the option of hooking up your tablet to a large screen TV and enjoying some quality movie time.
The laptop promises to be very durable too — its body is made with CNC aluminum alloy and can stand some knocking about. This adds to the device’s portability: you can easily have it in in your backpack or even pocket (provided you have unusually large pockets) and not worry too much about hefty protective and bumper cases.
Features and performance
The laptop-tablet comes with quite a powerful and modern chipset and features the Intel Atom x5-Z8350 Quad Core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. Based on the 14-nanometer technology, the processor is known for its ultra low voltage efficiency and a stable performance — so you are sure to have enough juice for your basic operations as well as gaming. Speaking of gaming, you get the Intel HD Graphics 200GHz GPU running things in the background and making sure you get quality imagery and video editing capabilities.
The memory set on the One Mix is quite impressive — and we are not talking tablet level here. You get 8GB DDR3 RAM for some advanced multitasking — the substantial high-bandwidth RAM ensures a high-impact gaming experience as well. Internal storage does not disappoint either: there is 128GB eMMC ROM for storing your pictures, videos, music and more.
The laptop runs on Microsoft Windows 10.1 Home OS giving you instant access to Microsoft’s best apps, impressive visualization, familiar interface and an overall convenience of use. The laptop-tablet supports dual band 2.4GHz / 5.0GHz WiFi for smoothly connecting to available WiFi networks. A notable drawback here is the absence of 4G support, which would go really well with the laptop’s compact and versatile design — but maybe this is something we will see in later models.
One Mix comes with a high-capacity 6500mAh battery, which should give you enough charge to last through a day of active use. You can charge it up by hooking it up to a socket or even use a powerbank — a very convenient feature to have on-the-go.
Should you get the One Mix yoga laptop? It is definitely an interesting and eye-catching device — with a price to match: the One Mix comes at a rather steep $459.99 (and that’s including GearBest’s 7% discount). You could get a 15+ inch tablet with a full keyboard for a similar price. You could — but it would not be as cool. Or as efficient. One Mix’s stylus makes it super easy to make quick notes as well as work on creative projects on-the-go, something to be truly appreciated by the creative types. Packing a powerful processor, a good battery, a nice HD screen and sporting a sturdy build, the One Mix does come with a lot to offer. And its portability and flexibility may just be what you’ve been missing in conventional gadgets.
