We are here today with a new camera recently released by Hawkeye, I’m talking about the Firefly 8S model. We have already reviewed another two Hawkeye cameras in the past, the Firefly Q6 & Firefly 7S models, with great quality / price ratio both. The Firefly 8S is available in two field-of-view versions, 90° and 170°. We got Firefly 8S Distortionless 90° 4K Super-View Action Camera version.
The entire camera surface is rubberized which ensures a perfect grip in every situation. Main buttons are big and easy to feel under the fingers, also with gloves on.The SD card slot position helps with heat dissipation generated during the recording. The screen is perfectly visible in any condition, also under the full sun glare. This is further aided by the setting “LCD Brightness” that allows you to set the brightness of the screen.

2. SONY IMX117 Top-level Image Sensor. IMX117 is a top-level image sensor of SONY, producing very good Wide Dynamic Range imaging effect.Compared with the last generation (IMX078), its process speed is 75% faster and its power consumption 20% lower.
3. Low illumination performance. Even in low light environment, FIREFLY 8S still presents good video quality and vivid color.
4. Six-axe Gyro video stabilization. Usually, common video stabilization function will reduce the view angle. However, after six-axe gyro adopted, Firefly 8S can produce very stable video image without losing any view angle.
5. Eight Quickset modes for capturing. Let’s enjoy the unique design of eight quickset modes and start for fun.
6. Bluetooth 3.0. A small Bluetooth remote controller (not included in the standard package) is designed for you to wear on your wrist or tie to the selfie stick, now you can capture photos/videos more easily.

The Firefly 8S is an amazing camera. For the price, I can’t ask for anything better. I think it is one of the best cameras for anyone wishing to try one of affordable action cameras out there in the present market.
