Meet QCY MeloBuds N20 Earbuds
The QCY MeloBuds N20 ANC Wireless Earbuds position themselves as a feature-dense, performance-oriented option in the increasingly competitive mid-range true wireless segment. With an emphasis on adaptive active noise cancellation, AI-enhanced call clarity, and modern connectivity standards like Bluetooth 6.0 with dual-device support, these earbuds aim to deliver a well-rounded experience that balances everyday usability with enthusiast-level features. On paper, the combination of a 13mm dynamic driver, up to 50 dB noise reduction, and ultra-low 0.068-second latency suggests a product engineered not just for casual listening, but for immersive, multi-scenario use.
Unboxing the MeloBuds N20 feels clean and methodical, with a presentation that reflects a focus on practicality rather than excess. Inside the box, the earbuds arrive pre-seated in their charging case, accompanied by a USB-C cable, multiple pairs of silicone ear tips, and a straightforward user manual. The inclusion of extra ear tips is particularly important here, as achieving a proper seal directly impacts both sound quality and ANC effectiveness. The packaging is compact and efficient, aligning with the product’s portable ethos.
In hand, the first impression is of a lightweight yet thoughtfully constructed device. The charging case features a smooth matte finish that resists fingerprints reasonably well and fits comfortably in a pocket. The lid mechanism feels stable with a reassuring snap, while the earbuds themselves sit securely in their charging slots. Pairing is immediate upon opening the case, and the Bluetooth 6.0 connection proves stable, with quick reconnection times and minimal dropouts during testing. From a build perspective, the MeloBuds N20 strike a balance between durability and comfort. The earbuds are ergonomically shaped to contour naturally to the ear, making them suitable for extended listening sessions without fatigue. The IPX4 rating ensures resistance against sweat and light rain, which makes them viable for workouts and outdoor use without concern. While they do not aim for a premium metal or glass aesthetic, the plastic construction is solid and well-finished, avoiding any sense of fragility.
Sound performance is anchored by the 13mm dynamic drivers, and this is where the earbuds begin to justify their technical claims. The audio profile leans slightly toward a consumer-friendly tuning with pronounced bass presence, but it avoids overwhelming the mids. Vocals remain clear and forward, while the treble delivers enough detail to maintain clarity without becoming harsh. The result is a versatile sound signature that adapts well across genres, from bass-heavy tracks to more nuanced acoustic recordings.
The active noise cancellation is one of the standout features. With up to 50 dB reduction across a wide frequency range, the MeloBuds N20 effectively dampen low-frequency environmental noise such as traffic, air conditioning, and public transport rumble. The multiple ANC modes allow for contextual adjustment depending on surroundings, which is particularly useful when transitioning between indoor and outdoor environments. Transparency mode performs adequately, allowing ambient awareness without removing the earbuds.
Daily use reveals a product designed with real-world scenarios in mind. Battery performance is consistent with its claims, delivering up to 10 hours on a single charge without ANC and slightly less when noise cancellation is active. The total 40-hour capacity with the charging case ensures several days of moderate use without needing to recharge. Fast charging is a practical addition, providing a quick boost when time is limited. The dual-device connection works seamlessly, allowing effortless switching between, for example, a smartphone and a laptop—an increasingly essential feature for hybrid work environments.
Call quality is another strong area, thanks to the AI-powered six-microphone array. The system uses beamforming techniques to isolate the user’s voice while suppressing background noise. In practice, this translates to clear and intelligible calls even in challenging environments like busy streets or windy conditions. The performance here exceeds expectations for this price category.
On the software side, the Android app experience adds a layer of customization that enhances the overall value. Users can switch between preset EQ profiles such as Rock or Bass Boost, or fine-tune their own sound signature through custom equalization. The app also provides control over ANC modes and other features, making it a central hub for personalization. The interface is intuitive and responsive, ensuring that adjustments can be made quickly without disrupting the listening experience.
The low-latency mode, clocking in at just 0.068 seconds, is particularly relevant for gaming and video consumption. In practice, this significantly reduces audio-visual lag, creating a more synchronized and immersive experience. While not entirely eliminating latency, it brings performance close enough to wired standards for most users.
In conclusion, the QCY MeloBuds N20 present a compelling package that prioritizes functionality, adaptability, and performance. They may not aim to redefine premium design standards, but they excel where it matters most: sound quality, noise cancellation, battery life, and connectivity. For users seeking a reliable pair of ANC earbuds with advanced features like multipoint connection, AI call enhancement, and customizable audio, the MeloBuds N20 stand out as a pragmatic and high-value choice in their segment.
