Meet Retevis Ailunce HA1UV Dual Band Radio
Retevis Ailunce HA1UV is a UHF VHF long-range waterproof dual-band amateur radio. It is rugged, simple and easy to use, with VFO mode, 2800mAh large-capacity battery, 1.77-inch color screen, and is the best communication choice for outdoor activities. In addition, it also has Sub-PTT function, emergency alarm, key lock function, FM radio, and a series of functions designed for amateur radio operators, disaster preppers, outdoor sports enthusiasts, etc. Whether you are doing outdoor activities, communicating privately with friends, or participating in exciting radio competitions, Ailunce HA1UV is a reliable and affordable choice.
Lifting the box for the first time, the weight immediately suggests something more substantial than a typical handheld radio. Opening it feels organized and deliberate. Everything has its place. The HA1UV sits securely in the center, flanked by the charging base, battery, USB cable, belt clip, wrist strap and the user manual. No filler, no unnecessary extras, just a complete working kit ready to be assembled and powered on.
The first moment in hand is defined by density and texture. The casing feels thick and impact-resistant, with a matte finish that resists fingerprints and provides good grip even with wet hands. The radio feels designed to be used outdoors, not just displayed. Buttons are firm and deliberate. The PTT has a defined press point. Side keys are easy to locate by touch alone. Powering it on, the 1.77-inch color screen lights up cleanly. The display is bright, sharp, and immediately readable. Battery status, frequency, and channel information are easy to identify at a glance. Adjusting brightness is straightforward, and the screen remains visible in both strong daylight and low-light conditions.
Programming frequencies directly through VFO mode feels natural. Entering values through the backlit keypad is precise, even in dim environments. No computer required. No cables needed once set. The menu structure feels logical, not buried or confusing. On the air, audio quality stands out immediately. Reception is clean and stable. Background noise is well controlled. Transmitting on both 2m and 70cm bands feels confident, with consistent output and no noticeable signal drop during longer conversations. The extended high-gain antenna clearly contributes to improved range, especially in uneven terrain and between buildings.
Walking with the radio clipped to a belt, it remains balanced and secure. The belt clip feels rigid and well mounted. Using the Sub-PTT function allows quick band switching without menu diving, making dual-band operation smooth and intuitive during active use.
Battery life becomes noticeable over time rather than something that demands attention. Hours pass without concern. Continuous monitoring, periodic transmissions, NOAA weather scanning, and occasional FM listening barely dent the charge. Knowing that USB-C charging is available adds flexibility for travel, vehicles, and emergency kits.
Exposure to moisture does not change behavior or performance. Rain, damp environments, and dusty conditions are handled without hesitation. The sealed ports and overall construction inspire confidence that the IP67 rating is more than a specification. Key lock functions prevent accidental input when moving. VOX operation works reliably for hands-free use. Emergency alarm activation is immediate and loud. NOAA alerts arrive clearly and on time.
Over extended use, the HA1UV feels consistent and dependable. No unexpected behavior. No interface frustration. Just predictable operation and solid communication. By the end of daily use, the impression remains the same as the first moment out of the box: a rugged, serious handheld radio built to be used, carried, exposed, and relied upon.
