Meet SmallRig Vibe P108 Pro mini LED Video Light BumbleBee Edition
As a lifelong Transformers fan and an active content creator, the moment I saw that SmallRig was releasing a BumbleBee Limited Edition of their Vibe P108 Pro mini LED, my curiosity instantly switched into collector mode. BumbleBee has always been the symbol of agility, loyalty, adaptability, and compact power — which, surprisingly, aligns perfectly with what I expect from a portable RGB video light. This crossover doesn’t feel like a random branding exercise; it feels like a purposeful fusion between cinema-grade tools and pop-culture engineering DNA. The tagline “More Than Meets The Eye” suddenly has a literal meaning in the content creation world — and SmallRig clearly embraced it.
The moment the package arrived, I knew this wasn’t going to be a routine unboxing. The SmallRig x Transformers BumbleBee Edition branding immediately set a cinematic tone, blending collectible excitement with filmmaking utility. Sliding open the box revealed a presentation that felt intentionally designed for creators: neat, premium, and visually thematic rather than generic accessory packing. Inside, I found the Vibe P108 Pro unit securely nested, its yellow-black BumbleBee armor-inspired finish instantly catching the eye. The device feels compact yet engineered, almost like handling a tactical gadget rather than a simple fill light. Under it, neatly arranged, were the accessories: a solid-feeling USB-A to USB-C cable, multilingual documentation, a Limited Edition branded Transformers Nameplate, and the official SmallRig manual pack. There was no wasted space, no unnecessary fluff—just thoughtful, mission-ready presentation.
Once in hand, the Vibe P108 Pro felt surprisingly premium for its footprint. At around 120g, it strikes the perfect balance between portability and durability—light enough for rig mounting and gimbal setups, but solid enough to inspire confidence in field use. The combination of textured anodized aluminum, PC, and ABS structural components contributes to a rugged, tool-grade feel rather than a toy-like accessory.
From the very first use, the embedded color display became one of the standout features for me. Having the interface visually present on the unit—rather than relying on guesswork or app navigation—dramatically improved my workflow. Whether adjusting Kelvin temperature between 2500K and 6500K, fine-tuning RGB output, or scrolling through the 12 built-in cinematic FX effects, I could make precise, one-handed adjustments without breaking shooting rhythm. This may seem like a small detail, but in real-world usage, it is the difference between interrupting creativity and flowing with it.
Mounting flexibility is another win. The quick-release base system is brilliantly implemented—fast, secure, and ideal for content creators who jump between tripods, rigs, and desktop setups. A single click locks it in; another releases it. No twisting, no fumbling, no wasted seconds. When you shoot dynamic content, those seconds matter.
Build quality exceeded expectations for a light of this size and battery class. The combination of anodized aluminum, PC, and ABS materials gives the P108 Pro a premium feel—lightweight at only around 120g, yet durable enough for field work. The surface texture resists scratches and fingerprints, something I appreciate in gear that’s handled dozens of times a day.
In terms of performance, the 108-bead RGBWW array delivers surprisingly strong output—1150 Lux @ 0.3m—enough to function as a key light for handheld clips, a fill light for talking-head framing, or an accent light for product cinematography. For color accuracy-critical shooters, CRI 95+ and TLCI 98+ ensure skin tones and product surfaces maintain natural integrity on camera.
Battery-wise, the built-in 1500mAh USB-C-charged cell got me around 70-80 minutes at full output, but realistically 2 to 3 hours with mixed brightness and CCT adjustments. For rapid content creation sessions, tabletop recording, or on-the-go vlogging, that’s more than enough. USB-C charging and pass-through power means it can operate indefinitely while connected to a power source—perfect for desk streaming, podcast lighting, or long tabletop shots.
Where the Vibe P108 Pro really embraces creativity is within its FX mode selection: lightning variations, emergency vehicle strobes, candlelight emulation, fireworks, TV flicker, and more. These aren’t gimmicks—they are atmospheric shortcuts that would normally require practical lights or post-production overlays.
The SmallRig Vibe P108 Pro BumbleBee Edition is more than a collectible—it’s a compact professional tool with a polished UX, reliable brightness, cinematic color accuracy, and rugged pocket-sized engineering. It naturally fits into workflows ranging from flat-lay product shots, Reels/TikTok content, travel vlogging, tech reviews, desk setups, macro visuals, and ambient B-roll lighting. In short, it embodies the Transformers mantra: more than meets the eye. And from a creator’s perspective, it genuinely lives up to it. If you need a travel-ready, cinematic, professional micro light that doubles as a limited-edition collectible, this is one worth owning.
