Meet UGOOS SK4 Pro TV Box
The evolution of the Android TV Box market has often been defined by incremental steps, but every so often, a device arrives that feels like a genuine leap forward. Today, I am putting the UGOOS SK4 Pro through its paces—a flagship contender that doesn’t just promise high-end performance but delivers a refined, enthusiast-grade experience right out of the box. Equipped with the latest Amlogic S905X5M-K processor and running Android 14, this device aims to be the definitive media hub for 2026.
From the moment the package arrived, it was clear that UGOOS hasn’t lost its touch for presentation. The unboxing experience is straightforward yet premium, emphasizing a “no-nonsense” approach to high-tech hardware. Inside, the SK4 Pro is nestled securely alongside its dedicated power adapter, an HDMI cable, and the star of the accessory show: the UGOOS Bluetooth Remote. The inclusion of this specific remote as a standard accessory is a major win. It’s not just a plastic clicker; it features IR learning buttons, voice search capabilities, and a highly responsive Airmouse function. In a market where many manufacturers cut corners on the remote, UGOOS provides a tool that feels engineered for the interface it controls.
The SK4 Pro maintains the signature UGOOS design language—compact, square, and industrial. The chassis feels dense and well-constructed, featuring a subtle LED status bar that adds a modern flair without being distracting in a darkened home theater environment. On the side, the connectivity suite is robust, including a USB-C power port and a dedicated USB port for external storage or peripherals. The physical reset button is a welcome inclusion for power users who enjoy tinkering with custom firmwares or deep system tweaks. It is a device that looks perfectly at home in a premium entertainment setup while remaining compact enough to disappear discreetly behind a clean, minimalist wall-mounted installation.
The heart of this machine is the new Amlogic S905X5M-K. In my benchmark testing, the performance jump over previous generations like the S905X3 is palpable. The system navigation is fluid, with virtually zero lag when jumping between resource-heavy applications. One of the most impressive technical feats here is the implementation of AI-SR (AI Super Resolution). Using the dedicated NPU, the SK4 Pro intelligently upscales lower-resolution content to 4K, providing a noticeably sharper and more vibrant image than standard upscaling methods. Coupled with full support for 4K HDR output, the visual fidelity is stunning, making older 1080p library titles feel revitalized.
UGOOS has always been known for its “Ugoos Settings,” and the SK4 Pro takes this customization to the next level:
– Controls Manager: The Button Manager and Menu Manager allow you to remap almost every key on your remote. You can turn a single press into a multi-functional command, making the user interface truly your own.
– Networking Prowess: This device is a networking powerhouse. With built-in Samba Server, NFS, and CIFS clients, I was able to turn the SK4 Pro into a local file server with just a few clicks.
– Ugoos Remote Server: For those who prefer a smartphone interface, the QR-code-based Remote Server allows you to control the entire TV box via an Android device seamlessly.
– Connectivity: The jump to Bluetooth 5.4 is significant. In my testing, data transfer speeds were consistently higher, and the connection stability with wireless headphones and game controllers was rock-solid across the room.
Having used the SK4 Pro as my primary media driver for an extended period, the reliability of the OTA (Over-the-Air) updates stands out. UGOOS has a track record of supporting their devices long after launch, and the automatic update system ensures you are always on the latest security patch and feature set without manual intervention. The thermal management is also worth noting. Even during 4K HDR playback or light gaming, the box remained cool to the touch, preventing the thermal throttling that often plagues lesser-designed hardware. The Advanced Sound Settings allowed me to force specific audio formats like Dolby Digital Plus or DTS-HD, ensuring perfect compatibility with my external soundbar.
Watching live TV channels through the Focus+ and Digi Online apps on the UGOOS SK4 Pro proved to be a genuinely engaging and fluid experience. The stable Android platform, paired with a reliable dual-band Wi-Fi connection, ensured fast channel loading and consistently smooth streaming across live broadcasts, news, and sports content. Motion handling remained clear and controlled, while colors appeared well balanced and natural, contributing to an overall viewing experience that felt both polished and dependable for everyday live TV consumption.
Streaming movies on the SK4 Pro using HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video has been exceptionally smooth and immersive. Dolby Vision content looks outstanding, with deep contrast, rich colors, and excellent detail that genuinely elevates the viewing experience. The Android 14 interface remains snappy even when switching rapidly between apps, and Wi-Fi 6 ensures stable, buffer-free playback of high-bitrate 4K content. AV1 decoding and advanced HDR handling make a visible difference, especially in darker scenes and action-heavy sequences where compression artifacts are often most noticeable.
Playing 4K video content on YouTube with the SK4 Pro has been a delight, showcasing the box’s hardware and codec prowess—streams load quickly, navigation is ultra-responsive, and there’s no noticeable lag or dropped frames even at maximum resolution. HDR10 and HLG support deliver stunning color accuracy and natural highlights, while the HDMI 2.1 output ensures crystal-clear visuals on my television. The advanced sound output, paired with Dolby Audio, makes music videos and nature documentaries sound vibrant, rounding out the immersive multimedia edge that UGOOS always promises. Local playback via USB or network shares is equally impressive, with broad codec support and smooth handling of high-bitrate files.
When it comes to gaming, titles like Hungry Shark Evolution and Beach Buggy Racing paired with my Bluetooth gamepad provide a console-like experience—the low input latency and smooth wireless performance make for responsive controls, and the graphics rendering is impressively fluid at 1080p and even upscaled 4K. The customizable Controls Manager allowed me to tailor the gamepad’s button mapping exactly to my preferences, and Bluetooth 5.3 ensured there were no disconnects during intense gameplay sessions. Whether solo or with friends, the UGOOS SK4 Pro handled longer play sessions without any stutter or overheating, reinforcing its reputation as a versatile entertainment powerhouse
The UGOOS SK4 Pro is far more than a conventional Android TV box, positioning itself as a highly refined multimedia platform that successfully bridges the gap between a basic streaming device and a full-scale home theater PC. Powered by the cutting-edge Amlogic S905X5M-K processor with AI-SR upscaling, backed by extensive software customization options, advanced audio controls, Samba integration, and one of the best Bluetooth airmouse remotes currently available, it delivers a level of flexibility and performance rarely found in this category. Combined with modern standards such as Bluetooth 5.4 and Android 14, the SK4 Pro feels thoroughly future-ready, remarkably stable under demanding workloads, and exceptionally well suited to enthusiasts who want maximum control over their entertainment ecosystem, making it one of the strongest and most complete Android media platforms currently on the market.
