Vivo U20 review: a mid-range smartphone with large battery and affordable price

Vivo company launched a mid-range smartphone, Vivo U20, in India today. The phone features Snapdragon 675 processor, 5000mAh battery and 18W fast charging. And it also offers at an affordable price of Rs. 10,990 (about $153). How about the phone’s performance? Is it worth buying? Let’s make a detailed analysis of it.

Vivo U20: design
The Vivo U20 comes with a 6.53-inch LCD water drop screen with the resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. On the back, there is vertical-aligned triple rear cameras and an LED flash light on the upper left of the back panel. And there is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor in the middle.

Vivo U20: how about the processor and performance?
The vivo U20 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chip, which is a mid-range processor that has been used on Redmi Note 7 Pro and vivo V15 Pro.

The Snapdragon 675 processor features 8 Kryo 460 called cores (64-Bit capable) that are divided in two clusters. A fast cluster of two cores with up to 2 GHz and based on the ARM Cortex-A76 design. And a power saving efficiency cluster with up to 1.6 GHz and based on much smaller ARM Cortex-A55 cores. Thanks to the two fast Cortex-A76 based cores, the SD675 is able to even best the old high end Snapdragon 835 SoC in some benchmarks. According to the official introduction, the overall benchmark score of the Snapdragon 675 is 25% higher than that of Snapdragon 665.

The Vivo U20 offers triple rear cameras with the combination of a 16MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra wide angle lens and a 2MP macro lens. Although it doesn’t offer very high pixel lenses, it’s enough for you to take photos in daily life. In addition, there is a 16MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture for your selfie.

Vivo U20: Large battery and fast charging is a selling point
Vivo U20 is powered by a large 5000mAh battery, which can last for more than one day without frequently charging. Moreover, it supports 18W fast charging, so you don’t need to wait for a long time for charging the phone.

Vivo U20: price, availability and is it worth buying?
The vivo U20 4GB version costs 10990 Indian rupees (about $153), the 6GB version costs 11990 Indian rupees (about $167). The phone will go on sale in India from November 28, 2019.

Compared to other mid-range phones, like Redmi note 7 Pro and Redmi Note 8, the vivo U20 is much cheaper. Moreover, the mid-range but still powerful specs like Snapdragon 665, triple rear cameras and large 5000mAh battery will meet most of your daily needs. Therefore, the Vivo U20 is a worth-buying mid-range smartphone that offers good value for money.
